Weekend Bits and Bobs: December 29, 2013 - Makeup Favorites for 2013

Nothing to Disclose

Today I have something a bit different. Polish I know backwards and forwards. Makeup, not so much. Goodness knows I'm not a make up blogger, but I've spent this year trying to learn more and picking out a few things here and there that I love. Today I'll show you my favorites that I've tried. Items that have become essentials in my makeup bag.

Continued after the jump...

There are some drug store brands and some high end brands. I don't discriminate. If I like it, I like it!

Drug Store favorites:

Milani 01 Romantic Rose Powder Blush and Milani Brow Fix

Wet n Wild Fergie CenterStage Collection eye shadow palettes

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mid-Range favorites:

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Venom and Jilted

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion

Urban Decay Black Market 24/7 Eye Liners

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

High End favorites:

Le Volume de Chanel Mascara

Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Lipstick in Rivoli #21

Dior Lipstick in Mauve Mystere 786

La Prairie Skin Caviar

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well those are my picks for 2013. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect brow fix for my red brows. The Milani is the best I've found so far, but next year maybe I can find the perfect one. I haven't tried gels yet. It's on my list.

I'm also still looking for the best shampoo/conditioner for me.

I still love Kinky Curly Curling Custard, but I've yet to find the perfect shampoo/conditioner/routine. Super curly (4a or 4b) and totally frizzy. Jheri curl when wet and afro when dry.

Recommendations gladly accepted!

Currently I'm using Graham Webb Making Waves Shampoo and Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat.

And is it makeup, make up or make-up?

  1. I'm also a curly girl and I love Deva Curl products and Moroccan Oil. And my stylist recently introduced me to Kevin Murphy Hair Resort which makes my hair super curly without any frizz (I have baby fine curls so depending on your texture, it may or may not work for you.)

Thanks for all the great blog posts! Happy New Year!

  2. I bought the Urban Decay eyeliners after you wrote about them, because like you, I'd never tried higher end eyeliners. I really like them and use them a lot (at least until my December cold).

About the eyebrow kit/gel... I was watching IT Cosmetics on QVC Friday night and they had a set of two gel eyebrow pencils "brow power 5 in 1" with an auburn color, and it did look good on their red headed model for the moments they showed it, then it sold out. It's $29 + shopping, but you'd have to order on wait list.

  3. When it comes to your hair, my advice is Living Proof's No Frizz collection or Wen by Chaz Dean. Living Proof is available at living proof.com and Sephora. Wen is available at QVC. Both took my frizz away and gave me soft pretty curls. If you want to straighten your hair ( although if beautiful the natural way) try Living Proof's Straightening line. It gave me straight hair for almost 3 days. Then I got caught in the rain. Love your blog! Happy New Year!

    1. THANK YOU! I'll check them out. I tried for over 30 years to get it straight. Even the $400+ straighteners don't work on me longer than 48 hours. ♥
