Nail of the Day: St. Paddy's Day!

*These products are Cruelty Free

Just a quick NOTD post for my St. Patrick's Day manicure! I'm heading out of town in the morning to go look at houses so I won't be around except maybe on IG. Hoping St. Paddy's Day give me the house hunting luck!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

When I'm in a hurry and I want to do both hands the same - or nearly the same - I seem to always default to either a gradient of a toothpick marble.

Here I've used Zoya Tilda and Hunter. Perfect green combo for the day, n'est pas?

And yes, I do actually have 2 hands. This was taken with a timer and the camera precariously held under my chin. I'm klassy like that LOL!

Feel free to share ALL YOUR ST. PADDY'S DAY manis on my Facebook page!! It will give me something pretty to look at in my down time on the trip!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature: Day 5 Grey and Yellow Floral

Purchased by Me

Day 5 brings my last Nature mani, a grey and yellow floral. This is also where I also show the ones that didn't make the cut for the week.

Grey and Yellow Floral

For this mani I used Barry M Grey #293 (purchased by me) and acrylic paints in just a random pattern with dots.

And the ones that didn't make the cut...

Gradient with Palms...

For this one I used Zoya Eden (for review) and Barry M Grey #293 (purchased by me) for the gradient and acrylic black paint for the palms.

And a really bad attempt at leopard!

Again, I used Zoya Eden (for review) and Barry M Grey #293 (purchased by me) and acrylic black paint. Can you guess which polishes were within my reach? Yeah I would have had to haul my lazy butt out of my chair to get others LOL!

Be sure and check out the other creations by the rest of the Digit-al Dozen gang in the links below and we will see you next month!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature - Day 3 Cosmic Flower

Nothing to Disclose

Today is Day 3 of Nature Week here at The Digit-al Dozen and for today I have a sort of abstract Cosmic Flower for you.

For this mani I used a plain black base (Wet n Wild WildShine Black Creme) and plain acrylic paints. Just sort of looks like some weird thing you'd see from the bridge of the Enterprise - that's pretty, luring them to search out it's origin and then WHAM they're being pulled in to a vortex of some sort, emitting phaser beams from the main photon torpedo tube. Data starts using contractions and Deanna Troi looses her Betazoid powers. Wesley has to figure it all out for them accidentally and they return the odd cosmic flower to a safe zone where it can't hurt anyone.

It's Been 4 Years? Already?

Hi guys! Today marks Pointless Cafe's 4 year anniversary! I can hardly believe it. Sometimes it seems like 20 years, but most of the time it just seems like last year I started all this.

When I started, I had no idea what I would write or if anyone would read it, but my husband had passed and I'd packed up all my art supplies, which I'd been using as an "outlet", so I just decided one day on a whim to start a blog. For the first few months, it had nothing to do with polish. I rambled on about various and sundry topics, keeping my polish love to myself. Favorite pre-polish posts? The Rat, The Monkey and the Y Chromosome, Thank Goodness for Quilted Toilet Paper, Teachers, Herding Cats and the Pear Tree, Mousecapades.

And then I just got frustrated over some gorgeous swatches of a polish that looked nothing like the swatches when my bottle arrived. I started looking around at some of the blogs I followed and found that very few actually showed what the POLISH looked like. The photos were stunning. Definitely great photographers, but what about the polish? Oh yes there were a couple back then who showed it properly, pretty photos or not. And they're still around, too. But they didn't have every polish I wanted to see. So I decided I would start blogging about polish. Of course since then, so many great bloggers have started so it's not hard to find accurate swatches of just about any polish now. But it wasn't back then.

I see so much improvement in mine since I started. And so much more room for improvement. I'll never be a fantastic photographer, but I try to provide accurate swatches of the polish in various lighting and some "pointless musings" here and there, with a generous helping of nail art when I have time. I've made so many great friends along the way and enjoyed talking to so many of the readers! It's been so much fun and I'm hoping it will remain fun for years to come!

Right now I'm on a sort of hiatus due to trying to move several states away and a lot of other stuff, but I WILL be back!

In the mean time, I just didn't have it in me to coordinate and run a huge blowout giveaway this time. So a brilliant friend of mine came up with this awesome idea of discount codes from a few makers!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature: Day 2 Chinese Landscape

Nothing to Disclose

Today is Day 2 of The Digit-al Dozen Nature week and I drew my inspiration for this one from a technique I've always been drawn to, Ancient Chinese Landscape Paintings!

I think what has always drawn me to the ancient Chinese landscapes is the "moodiness" of them. They used ink wash and generally monochromatic shades and they were sparse - to evoke an emotion or atmosphere (the moodiness I feel, I think) more than to reproduce a scene exactly, as you'd find in realism. Of course what I've created is also more a "suggestion of" rather than a recreation, but I do like the look.

For this I used a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff and black and white acrylic paints blended in to varying degrees of grey.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Nature - Day 1 Whale Tail Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

It's DIGIT-AL DOZEN WEEK again! The theme this time is "Nature" - which basically could be anything. I don't know about you, but when I'm "spoiled for choice" as they say, it almost seems harder to narrow things down.

I'm not sure why, but the first thing that popped into my head was a whale tail so I gave it a shot.

I used a base of Sinful Colors Snow Me White and acrylic paints for this one.

Superficially Colorful Sham-Rockin' Collection - Swatches and Review

*These products are Cruelty Free

Hi everyone *waves frantically* - I'm popping back in with a lovely St. Patrick's Day Collection from Superficially Colorful. It's for St. Paddy's Day so of COURSE you know I'm all over that. It's an abbreviated post - fewer photos and such because I'm still in the middle of life. I think I've found "THE" house - now to coordinate a move across several states. It's a bit overwhelming! Exciting for sure and a bit scary.

So let's get to it! Swatches and review after the jump.
