Comparison Request: Emily de Molly Ground Control vs Enchanted Polish Hot Chocolate

I have a really quick comparison post for you - chocolate brown holos!

Emily de Molly Ground Control vs Enchanted Polish Hot Chocolate

As you can see, they're not the same. The linear holo is stronger in Ground Control and Hot Chocolate is a tad warmer.

Two coats of both with no top coat.

What do you think? Do YOU need both?

Foxy Paws Holo Dolly Collection - Put on Your Sunday Clothes and Happy Cuticles Treatment Oil

*These products are Cruelty Free

I'm back with the remaining polish in the Foxy Paws Holo Dolly Collection, Put On Your Sunday Clothes, along with their Happy Cuticles Treatment Oil.

Foxy Paws and their sister brand Well Nails are Danish indie polish brands and are cruelty-free and 4-free.

This collection is called the Holo, Dolly! Collection and is made up of 7 linear holographic polishes inspired by the Broadway hit musical Hello, Dolly!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Put On Your Sunday Clothes is a bright green-based yellow linear holographic polish. This had the same great formula as the rest in the collection. No issues at all to report. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

As with the rest of the collection, no aqua base is needed and the holographic properties aren't affected by the top coat I did use after the photos to protect my mani - Poshe. I haven't tried it with other top coats.

piCture pOlish Blogfest 2013 - Year of the Blogger!

*These products are Cruelty Free

piCture pOlish Blogfest 2013 is HERE!!! I was so excited and honored to be able to participate in their annual Blogfest again this year. They did change it up on us a bit this year though. NAIL ART! Well I can tell you I felt more than a little trepidation over that little tidbit. And the tutorial. Well, you'll just have to be my "guinea pigs" on the tutorial thing!

This year their theme is Year of the Blogger and it's a celebration of bloggers and what we do. Um...YAY!

And the best part? Three lucky and talented people from the list of blogger participants will be chosen to create their own color for piCture pOlish in 2014!

Here's how they will be chosen:

1 x Award - as voted by PP friends and fans
1 x Award  - as voted by the blogger participants of Blog Fest 2013 (that's ME!)
1 x Award - as voted by Jules & Megs of piCture pOlish

Here's the link to the Pinterest BlogFest board.

Unfortunately, since I got to create a shade for 2013 (piCture pOlish FOCUS by Pointless Cafe), I am not in the running, but I am so thrilled for those who are and can't wait to see who they will be and what magnificence they will create!

Okay so let's get to mine!

I received Whimsy, Peaches n' Cream and Shocked as my three shades for the challenge. And what a challenge it was. I just couldn't figure in my head how these colors were going to work together. But try I did and this is what I came up with...

Color Story: Red - Sunday Swatch Spam

I love red nail polish. Classic, sophisticated, never out of style. So I thought I would show you a few of my favorite reds. There are so many shades of red that I can't cover them all and I have so many different red polishes that I could probably do a years worth of "Red of the Day" posts. But I won't.

So I've pulled a few of my personal favorites.

I use those plastic air things but I'm sure these would be better. I'll have to check them out.

Comparison Request: Colors by Llarowe Vamp vs Little Red Corvette

Just a really fast comparison for you between Colors by Llarowe Vamp and Little Red Corvette.

Both red, both linear holos. But different.

As you can see, they're quite different. If you're not really into red holos, then you'd probably be okay with one. But if you're like most of us, they're different enough that you need both.

What say you?

Milani Cosmetics Color Statement Lipstick

Nothing to Disclose
*These products are Cruelty Free

Tonight I have a different sort of post for you - something I don't normally do for sure...Lipstick!

The reason I don't normally do lipstick is because I can't show it on my lips. Well, I could, but trust me, no one wants to see that.

But since Revlon discontinued (well, CHANGED) their ColorStay line and since Revlon is no longer Cruelty-Free, I've been on the hunt for a good, thrifty lipstick. So far, I haven't tried Chanel lipstick - 1) because of the price. While I can spend the $$ on a polish, I can't seem to bring myself to do it for a lipstick and 2) I'm really afraid I'll fall in love with them.

Well, the other day, while scanning Walgreens for something I hadn't tried already and hated, I found a new display of Milani Color Statement Lipstick. So I picked up a few. And I love them!

They don't taste wonky - major plus for me even though I know it doesn't bother most people. They go on smoothly, feel creamy and are really well-pigmented. They don't last ALL day, but they last longer on me than anything I've tried since Revlon ColorStay (pre-formula/packaging change and pre-non CF status) so I thought I'd show you the ones I got. Also, once they've been on for a few minutes, they sort of "set" and don't come off as easily. They're not "smear-proof" exactly, but they're as good as those others that CLAIM to be but aren't. I'd say these are comparable to the Maybelline Vivids as far as color-staturation, but they don't dry out quite as much. (Plus Milani is CF while Maybelline isn't.)

What do you think of these? Are they Chanel? No. Are they worth the $6 bucks? Absolutely.

I got these at my local Walgreens for $5.99, but you can also get them on-line at the Milani site for $5.49 each.

Happy Saturday! Today I have another polish from Pretty Serious Cosmetics' Seriously Random Collection to show you - Cybernetic.

There are lots of swatches of this gorgeous polish alone so again, as I did with Purple Monkey Dishwasher, I've layered ONE coat over a plain black creme, which is how I always wear mine. One light coat of Poshe top coat just to protect the mani. No issues at all with formula or application.

Glitter Daze Colorpop Collection

*These products are Cruelty Free

Tonight I have the Colorpop Collection from Glitter Daze to show you! There are 10 new polishes just released that are perfect for summer.

Since this will be a long post, I'll dispense with the chatter and just get right to it! Prior to swatches of each one, in italics, you will see the maker's own description of each of the polishes, followed by my review.

L-R: Jetsetter Lifestyle, Icecream for Summer, Lei It On Me, Pucker Up Sunshine,
Neon Wasted, Life is But a Breeze, A Boardwalk to Remember,
Star So Bright, Summer Sprinkles and My Private Paradise

I didn't have any issues with formula or application on any of them, which is saying something considering there are TEN polishes! I did notice, however, that some of the larger neon glitters appear to be starting to disintegrate, which seems to be common for most of the neon glitters, regardless of brand.

Jindie Nails Mod Quad Glitter Toppers

*These products are Cruelty Free

Tonight I have a special treat for you - an upcoming set of four glitter toppers from Jindie Nails called The Mod Quad. This Quad set goes along with The Summer Chic Collection 2013.

The Mod Quad consists of the following four glitter toppers: Dancing with the Stars, A History of Violets, Sparkle on the Vine and Eclectric.

All 4 of these has the same formula - same consistency in the clear bases and about the same amount of glitter in each one. No trouble getting the glitters out and they all spread nicely on the nail. One coat of top coat (I used Poshe) made everything perfectly smooth. No issues to report at all. (Note: As always with glitters, I used a toothpick to scrape down the sides and across the bottom to "float" the glitters before using.)

Chanel La Collection Paris-Moscou aka The Russies

Nothing to Disclose

I'm BACK! As promised with swatches of my lovely birthday present from my even more lovely friends.

Forty-Seven and Celebrating with Chanel

Nothing really special about the number 47. And it IS just a number, or so I've been told. But I'm here to tell you that it's just as painful when said rapidly as it is when said slowly.

I'm 47 today. When my mother was 47, she had an 11 year old handful (me) and I can barely handle two dogs. She was some woman and I miss her, especially on birthdays. I mean after all, 47 years ago today I was causing her some pain I would imagine.

The Mystery of 47

I've always hated birthdays because they're depressing and usually a huge let-down. But for the past few years, having my guy in my life has changed that I think. And my friends. I have a LOT of acquaintances but not what I would call a lot of friends. But the ones I DO have, well, they're the BEST. Every now and then a snake slips in, but overall, I'm a pretty good judge of character and I must say, I do have the BEST taste in friends.

If you've read my post, Thank Goodness for Quilted Toilet Paper, you know how I feel about "stuff" and life's not really about "the stuff." You know the old adage, the best stuff in life isn't stuff.

But I'm going to show you some "stuff" anyhow because, well, I can't take photos of "unstuff."

My friends got together and surprised me with the best gift a nail polish lover could ask for...

La Collection Paris-Moscou - From Russia (via Paris) with love. Three limited-edition, jewel-toned nail shades that evoke the riches of the Russian Empire - the inspiration behind the Chanel Paris-Moscou Fashion Show (FNO 2008) designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

Affectionately called The Russies by nail polish aficionados the world over.

The Russies!!!! I nearly fainted. Then I may have cried a little. Something I've wanted for a long time and something I'd never have bought for myself. My. Friends. ROCK.

I got a few other goodies too - from my friend Ashley...

...for the Doctor Who and Harry Potter fan in all of us.  The key ring says Accio Coffee! A Time Turner. A Doctor Who Toile make-up bag. She knows me so well!

So...wanna see swatches of the Chanels? Tune in later today for my blogpost with full swatches!

If I survive 47.

And if THEY can survive 47, so can I. They being this lot of "famous" people who are also 47...

R. Kelly, Samantha Fox, Chris Rock, Janet Jackson, Shania Twain, Cindy Crawford, Charlie Sheen, Helen Bonham Carter, Cynthia Nixon, Marlee Matlin, Robin Wright, Jami Gertz, Nancy McKeon, Ben Stiller, Heidi Fleiss, Julianna Margulies.
