Beauty Bay e-tailer Review

You know how easy it is to get on-line and rant about something we find, well, less than satisfactory? I think we can all be guilty of it and to an extent, it *can* be helpful to vent, depending on how it's done. Helpful for the company who gives us product or service we aren't happy with, helpful in a "I had to vent" sort of way. And in today's high-tech world, we can get it all out there before we even have time to think sometimes...we tweet it and Facebook it before you can say rumpelstiltskin. And once it's out there, there are no take-backs. If we're mad enough, we take to our blogs, indignation in hand, and "rip 'em a new one."

In fairness, when we are extremely satisfied about something, we should also bust out the keyboard and tell cyberspace how great they are.

Today I'm doing the latter.

I placed an on-line order with BeautyBay.com, a UK-based company, 14 days ago from here in the US. I was a bit hesitant at first because questions of dollars vs. pounds and customs declarations and will it take months went floating through my lil brain, but once on the site, it was a breeze. There's a button to click to change from GBP to USD right there on the easy-to-navigate site and I added a few things to my shopping cart and hesitantly proceeded toward the virtual check-out line. I was wondering if, like Mulberry, I would have a problem with my address matching up with my debit card because the UK formats their addresses differently. (Thanks Mulberry for actually saving me $1500 that I DIDN'T get to spend on your site.) Nope, it was totally formatted for any address configuration. They actually wanted my money!

I received conformation of my order via email immediately and another email stating when my order was "dispatched." =) Today is the 14th day since I ordered - well, actually it's the 13th day because I placed my order in the middle of the night for them - and look what arrived! In my book, that's FAST from the UK, especially for nail polish because we all know how "dangerous" it is. (You can't see me but I'm rolling my eyes right now.)

Great packaging, customs form properly done and nothing broken! The box, which was packed carefully with peanuts, was inside this sealed bag with a handle - no one at customs getting into this without you knowing! Genius!

All my lovely goodies inside...

And the individual polishes were packed in these cute little drawstring bags...

And last, but certainly NOT least...I got FREE SHIPPING on my order through a promotion they were having! If you follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter, you'll get a heads-up when they have special promotions. (See photo - they smartly print their information on each little bag.)

This is how ordering on-line should be. I haven't had to contact customer service for anything, but somehow, if I did, I don't think I would be disappointed.

Now I can't wait to try them. I think I'll try Nails Inc. Fenchurch Street first.

Thanks Beauty Bay - keep up the good work!

  2. Thanks for the review, very helpful! I was wanting to buy some polishes from over there, and this is perfect! I'm suprised they don't carry Barry M, though.

And what delicious blue color is that on your nails in the pictures?

    1. Yeah - I've been wanting some Barry M too - but happy to get the Nails, Inc. ones for sure. Oh and thanks! I'm wearing Orly Sapphire Silk.
