Dior Junon #494 - Nail of the Day

Nothing to Disclose
*This product may NOT be Cruelty Free

♥

Just a quick Nail of the Day post - I'm going to drop and run!

Dior Junon #494

Junon is one of the new "gel-effect" polishes from Dior. I didn't initially grab this one because I thought it was more blue than grey. I did pick up five others though. If you missed that post click the link in the photo caption below.

Dior GelShine Spring 2014

But when my friend Alison assured me it was MY color - more grey than blue, I decided to order it (from Nordies) yesterday. Yes, YESTERDAY. And it came in today! Free shipping and so FAST? Yeah, I've loved Nordstrom for a long time, but they really impressed me this time.

Dior Couture Color GelShine & Long-Wearing Nail Lacquer - Spring 2014

Nothing to Disclose

I debated long and hard about these photos. It just feels off to me I guess...swatching Diors with uneven nails and my hyponychium showing and all! But I decided that everyone has rips and breaks and different length nail beds. They still haven't grown enough for me to be able to even them up. But hey, that's real life! So I'm laying it all out for you - even with Dior!

Dior Spring 2014
Couture Color GelShine
Dior Vernis Haute Couleur Brilliance et Tenue Effet Gel

I picked up five of the new ones at my store.

Incognito is a re-promote from the Dior Addict Collection in 2013 (came out with Lucky, Plaza, etc.) but I didn't pick it up back then because I was afraid it wouldn't go well with my skin-tone.

The ones I didn't pick up are the other re-promotes:  Masai 853 and Nuit1947 970 along with Metal Montaigne 803 and Adventure 551 because they looked close to others I have. That's not to say I won't cave later though LOL!

There are more of these new formula polishes that weren't at my local Dior counter: Ruban 268, Victoire 758, Wonderland 575, Muguet 108, Palais Royal 503 (which I really want!), Junon 494 (which I also want), Trianon 306 (re-promote), Rouge 999 (re-promote)

Stash Post - Dior and Chanel

Just a quick Stash Post for you tonight - Dior and Chanel

These things are ever-changing so I don't do it often, but I get lots of requests for some reason. I'd rather see them on the nail personally, but there is something quick yummy about seeing all the bottles lined up together.

I have some not so up-to-date stash pics in the My Polish Collection tab above, which I will be updating soon, hopefully. I actually did take more photos just at the beginning of January that I'll put on that page in the next week or so.

Of course I missed one in this pic - Trench is sitting on my desk because I just used it for undies for a glitter polish swatch. Oops!

My favorite? Well that's just about impossible to pick my favorite Dior, but Gris Montaigne, Minuit, Purple Candy, Trench and Dune are probably my top 5.

What are your favorite Dior polishes?

Chanel Stash...

Favorite Chanels...Well the Russies of course, Particuliere, Rouge Fatal, Malice, Charivari.

Your favorite Chanels?

Dior Blossom 132 from the Dior Trianon Collection for Spring 2014

Dior Blossom 132
Dior Trianon Collection for Spring 2014

Blossom 132 is part of the Dior Trianon Collection for Spring 2014 and it's a sheer apricot jelly loaded with gold shimmer/flecks. As you can see, this one isn't the mint shade - I've seen stock photos Dior sent out (like on temptalia.com) that mixed up the shades on the bottles, calling this one Pampille and the mint one Blossom. I assure you this one is the apricot one, though!

Dior Diorific Frimas #318

I nearly passed this one up. What was I thinking? The minute I put it on I knew it was a must-have for me. I expected "lobster hands" and I was pleasantly surprised. It's one of those with enough warmth with the golden shimmer and micro-flakes and still cool-toned enough for me!

There are three other polishes in the Golden Winter Collection, in addition to a Jewel Manicure Duo. The other shades are Winter #128, Minuit #995 (click for my review of Minuit) and a re-promote of Marilyn #751 that I reviewed here from last year. $26.00.

The Jewel Manicure Duo is Bijou Base Vernis and Perles Cristal - a golden polish/base and micro-pearls for a unique 3D manicure. $39.00.

I will have swatch photos and my review of Frimas for you after the jump...

Weekend Bits and Bobs: November 1, 2013 - Dior Lipstick, Coastal Living and Drunk Birds

Weekend Bits and Bobs

November 3, 2013

Only 52 more days until Christmas! No I haven't started. Yes I am a last minute kinda gal. LOL! How about you?

So I was going through some travel photos the other day - mostly Scotland, which makes me want to jump on a plane right now. And some from several other countries...remembering each of those trips fondly. Wishing I could live somewhere else. I see status updates from my friends in the UK and Northern US and "home" (Indiana) and I get so jealous!

So I stopped to think...just because I am not a beach/coastal person (gimme mountains, bay-bee - and the forest!) doesn't mean that I don't live in a nice place. Seeing gas signs this morning for $2.96 per gallon reminded me that I live in probably the best area, economically, of anywhere in the States. The cost of living is low and we weren't hit nearly as hard here between 2008 and now when the economy went into the toilet. And the oil field is BOOMING right now. So we're actually in good shape.

Well, I decided to try to appreciate where I am. I've shown photos before my little town where I live, go boating, etc. but I had to go to Corpus Christi the other day (about 18 minutes away from me) so I took my camera and drove home along the bay front.

Not 30 feet up the steps is the 6 lane street going through the middle of town.
I used to grab lunch and bring it here when I worked in the city
Like a mini-get-a-way

Lots of wind energy (in the background)

It's plenty warm (mid 90s) but middle of the day on a work day
Plus I think the jellyfish have made their way in...so it's basically deserted.

We have a fantastic harbor/marina/yacht club here too.

This is one of the Columbus ships - replica ships were all here, now just this one remains.

Wildlife right here in the middle of the city!

The Lexington Museum - an air craft carrier from WWII - great tours and it's HAUNTED!

The Texas State Aquarium on the far right...we also have great museums.

And an Art Center!

Yes, we have a FABULOUS Art Center!

And this made me giggle. In the photo above, bottom left corner - what IS that?

So I enlarged it. A bird checking out an alcoholic beverage? Bwahahahaaaa....

Lucky Shot of the Day

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What did I get while I was in Corpus running my errands? Well I couldn't leave empty-handed, so I grabbed Dior Mauve Mystere #786 Lipstick from the Rouge Dior Collection. My first Dior lipstick! I absolutely LOVE it!

It's creamy, smooth, well-pigmented and the color is amazing! It's not what I'd call a "long-lasting" lipstick, but if I do go all day without re-applying, I still have what amounts to a lip tint. Meaning when it does wear off through eating etc. it still leaves enough of a tint that I don't feel naked. And it's moisturizing enough that my lips don't get dry when most of it wears off! This is really a pickle I'm in now. When I didn't know I loved it, I could do without it. Now that I know, I'll be buying more. Retail price: $34.00.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally, my favorite mani of the week? Of course you guys KNOW it's going to be my new KBShimmer Plum Tuckered Out that I created with Christy Rose!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's what it looks like from here. I've got spareribs in the oven and my house smells SO GOOD right now! So I will leave you to the rest of your weekend.

Hope it's FANTASTIC! ♥

Dior Diorific Minuit #995

Golden Winter for Winter/Holiday 2013

Dior Diorific Minuit #995, from the Golden Winter Collection - Dior Winter/Holiday 2013, is deep, vampy purple-hued red crelly with red glass flecks and gold shimmer throughout. The formula was amazing. Smooth and easy and I really love the brush on these "ornament" bottles. Two coats for full opacity and one coat of top coat for the photos (except where indicated.)

There are three other polishes in the Golden Winter Collection, in addition to a Jewel Manicure Duo. The other shades are Winter #128, Frimas #318 and a re-promote of Marilyn #751 that I reviewed here from last year. $26.00.

This afternoon I thought I would show you a polish I've had for quite a while and have worn so many times I was SURE I'd already posted it. Whoops! Dior #908 Tuxedo. It's actually my pedi of the day, but I didn't want to scare anyone away with the title.

I'm busy right now swatching my lil fingers off but I missed this after I removed it so now I'm wearing it as my pedicure. Don't worry though, I'm not going to show you my feet. You're welcome!

Dior
Ultra Violet #687

Dior Ultra Violet #687 was from the Limited Edition Anselm Reyle Collection from 2012 and it's a medium warm-toned purple creme with that famous Dior "hidden shimmer" but I did get it to come out and play a bit in the sunlight photos at the end - it looks to be blue and pink shimmer! Perfect formula and application.

Dior Trafalgar No. 657

Nothing to Disclose
*This product may NOT be Cruelty Free

♥

Working on swatching some amazing collections for you but I thought I'd do a quick "drop and run" on this one: Dior Trafalgar # 657

Trafalgar, part of the Dior Les Rouges Collection for Fall 2013, is a red-orange crelly polish. It's quite sheer like a jelly and dries super shiny. I used FOUR coats of this and still had VNL (visible nail line) so this is one Dior, actually, that isn't for me. But the color is intense and amazing and if you love the jelly/crelly finish and don't mind VNL, I think you'll love it. Four coats and no top coat for the photos. I've used strong lighting and medium lighting so you could see the nuances of this shade.(The first photo above is the most color-accurate for most lighting situations, I think.)

The Dior Les Rouges Collection is available in stores now and each one retails for $24.00.

Dior Galaxie #992 - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product may not be Cruelty Free

♥

Tonight I have one more new Dior polish for you. This time it's Dior Galaxie #992, which is one of 3 new polishes in the Mystic Metallics Collection for Fall 2013.

The other two, Destin (taupe metallic) and Mystic Magnetics (teal green magnetic), haven't made it to me yet. These are the types I need to see in person. Pretty sure I'll get Destin and pretty sure I won't get Mystic Magnetics (if that's for sure the name) but I've surprised myself before.

Galaxie #992 is a deep, rich raisin shimmer. The shimmer is clearly visible on the nail in most lighting, but in the shade at arm's length, it just looks like a purple-toned brown creme. The formula and application were perfect. No issues to report at all and if I had to run out of the house in a hurry, I feel like I could get by with one coat but it's best with two coats and a top coat. All photos are with two coats - some with top coat (Poshe) and some without.

Dior Rouge #999 - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product may not be Cruelty Free

♥

Well I was pretty excited to be getting Dior Nuit 1947 #970 polish in my Sephora package today. But alas, they messed up and didn't send it. The only one of the 4 polishes Dior is promoting for their Fall 2013 Rouge Collection that is actually new. Well I think it's new and I think it's the only one of the four that isn't a re-promote.

So THIS is Dior Rouge #999...

I'll be showing you Dior Rouge #999 instead. This one is the old #999 Red Royalty/Rouge Altesse. But I can't be too sad because it is a gorgeous red creme. Nearly a one-coater. In fact, I'll show you one coat! Also I have a comparison at the end with a few other reds you may already have: Zoya Livingston, Chanel Dragon and Illamasqua Throb. So stay with me 'til the end!

Rouge 999 (Red Royalty 999) is a gorgeous red creme that, like Chanel Dragon, is hard to call as far as whether it's a blue-based red or an orange-based red. It looks different in different lighting as you can see in the photo above. It's probably the most "middle of the road" red shade that I have. No issues at all with formula or application.

Dior Windsor 807

Personal Collection

Dior Windsor #807 is part of a Harrod's Exclusive Duo. Well for now.

Sometimes the Harrod's Exclusives are released elsewhere later. I didn't want to take that chance though and picked up Windsor.

As you can tell by the number, it's a re-release of Dior NY 57th #807. Just the name has changed. But I didn't have Bond Street, so I had to get it.

Windsor is a creamy metallic silver-grey that, like most Diors, goes on like butter.
