Orly Sapphire Silk Swatches and Review

I guess I never really think of Orly for "normal" things like cremes. Usually it's some sort of glittered or flakied polish that I think of when I hear Orly.  But I picked up a teal creme and finally got around to using it and I was pleasantly surprised!

Presenting Orly Sapphire Silk - a great rich teal creme! The formula was great and it went on smoothly with 2 medium coats.

Shown here in natural lighting (no sunlight) with 2 coats of color and a top coat of Seche Vite.

  1. Ooooh! I like that one a lot!

I wonder if you'd consider doing a post on base/top coat recommendations, as well as pointers on doing your own mani. I got my first Essie polish ever (Power Clutch) and I've done five manis with it in the last week and all of them came out carpy. I usually use OPI Rapid Dry Topcoat but I've been trying to use up my Sally Hansen Double Duty base/top coat. I have had a hard time with the polish in general so I don't think it's all related to the base/top, but I'd love to read an expert's DIY advice.

My top tip: get the professional remover. What a difference, especially with the darker shades!

  2. Thanks for the suggestion PB! I'm so not an expert and doubt I could give any useful pointers, but I'll think about it and see if I have any tips to share and base/top coat recommendations... *thinking*

  3. Maybe you can answer this. I actually don't think my issues with the Essie are the base/topcoat (but am still interested in what you use). It's like the brush is too skimpy or something. The color comes out streaky in the first coat and when I get the second coat on, it's almost too sticky, if that makes sense. I'm about to throw this one in the trash but I got a few more Essies (it was one of their blocks of 4 mini colors) and I'd hate to trash them all.

  4. I'm actually working on a post with my tips and tricks now thanks to you! But everyone will need to keep in mind that I'm not a nail tech and everyone's nails are different. LOL!

  5. I have no earthly idea why my posts don't show me as the blog owner and my google ID keeps changing! If anyone knows how I can fix this, lemme know!
