Badass

Today I have another great blogger collaboration shade from piCture pOlish and my sweetheart of a friend Shelly from Sassy Shelly and it's called Badass. I don't have any doubt Shelly could be a badass if she needed to be but all I know of her is that she is a doll.

Badass is a black base filled with the new piCture pOlish holographic pigment and loads of sparkling multi-colored micro-flakes.

Indie Polish - Into the Darkness Swatches and Review

*This product is Cruelty Free

I have a new-to-me indie polish brand to show you called Indie Polish! I have a few of these I'll be showing you, but for now we're starting with...

Indie Polish
Into the Darkness

So let's get to know Tanya, creator at Indie Polish, a bit...here's what she had to say:

My polish is 3 free and vegan. I test all new glitters and pigments for 2-3 months. My polishes are made in small batches, and we cater to all types of polishes, from holos to glitter bombs and rich cremes. I am inspired by things that oddly go together and work phenomenally well. I have a 6 year old special needs son who has also named, and created color mixes out of glitters for polish as well. The mixes of textures, colors and depth help create polishes that I believe are quite unique. We are located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. However we ship worldwide. My polish is cruelty free. Extensively tested on friends, family, myself and often bloggers before it's released, I am confidant in my polish and my company as a whole!

Nothing to Disclose

Tonight I have one of the two new Chanel FNO 2013 polishes to show you - Cosmic...and a comparison at the end with a couple of Diors. (To see my swatches and a comparison of Magic, click here.)

Chanel Cosmic, one of two Limited Edition polishes created for Vogue's Fashion's Night Out 2013, is a black creme with silver micro-flakes that shift to blue (and possibly violet - but that could be my eyes playing tricks on me).

Emily de Molly - It's Just a Phase

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

I'm back with another lovely polish from Emily de Molly - It's Just a Phase.

Emily de Molly It's Just a Phase

Here's how Emily de Molly describes It's Just a Phase:

BASE - Clear.
GLITTER - Neon pink hex, orange hex and bars and black hex glitter.
Fishing may be required as the large glitters have a tendency to sink. A gentle shake before use will help distribute the glitter.
OPAQUE - N/A (designed to be worn over a base colour)

No issues at all with this one. Everything came out of the bottle nicely, no digging, and spread nicely on the nail. Two light coats of It's Just a Phase over Kiko #400 and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

Colors by Llarowe - Black Gold, Texas Tea

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

I'm back with another holo beauty from Colors by Llarowe - a limited edition polish from the Deep in the Heart of Texas Collection with proceeds going to tornado victims: Black Gold, Texas Tea.

These polishes begin launching on May 26, 2013 at Llarowe

Colors by Llarowe - Black Gold, Texas Tea

Black Gold, Texas Tea is a true jet black linear holo. This is a one-coater, too! But I did use two coats and no top coat out of habit for all the photos.

Dior Diorific Le Grand Bal Diva and Marilyn - Swatches and Review

Ready for more holiday polish? How about more Dior? Oh, BOTH, you say? No problem!

Dior recently released its Diorific Le Grand Bal Collection, which includes 4 new nail lacquers. I have two of those to show you today. Yes, just two. I was pretty sure the other two wouldn't look great on me and I'm not one of those people who just HAS to own the entire collection. If I spend the money, I want to actually be able to wear it, otherwise, what's the point?

Dior Diorific Le Grand Bal - Diva and Marilyn

I got Diva and Marilyn - the black and the red. First up, Diva...

Dior Diorific Le Grand Bal - Diva

Diva is a black creme with gold and fuchsia/violet microglitter! I was a bit worried about how the brushes would be on these, but I should have known Dior would get it right. They are easy to hold and maneuver and the brush is flat, medium width and cut well. Formula was typical Dior - creamy and smooth. I used two coats for full opacity and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

And Marilyn...

Dior Diorific Le Grand Bal - Marilyn

Marilyn is a bright blue-based red crelly. It was hard to capture that it is, in fact, a blue-based red rather than an orange-based red, but I promise in real life it is, which is perfect for me with my pale, cool skin. Same brush of course, but the formula was definitely a crelly (or possibly even a jelly) rather than a creme. It was a bit thinner and dried to a high shine. I used two coats and I still have VNL (visible nail line) but I'm not so bothered by it on short nails. For jelly/crelly fans, this one will be a must. I did not use a top coat for these photos.

So what do you think of these? Of the others if you've seen them? Which is your favorite? Will the different bottle shape they're using for these special holiday polishes bother you? They are actually .40 ounces.

Dior polishes are available at dior.com, Dior counters at major department stores like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and various other e-tailers. Regular Dior polishes retail for $23.00 but these retail for $26.00 per bottle.

Zoya Ornate Collection 2012

As promised, tonight I have the Zoya Ornate Collection 2012 to show you!

Zoya Ornate Collection 2012, Aurora, Blaze, Electra, Logan, Storm and Ziv

So let's get right to it!

Zoya Aurora is a sparkly violet purple packed full of holographic glass fleck particles. Actually, if you view the closeup, it almost looks like holographic micro-flakes. I'm really not sure which it is, but I'm a sucker for micro-flakes! This is a strong scattered holo and the formula was very easy to work with. I used two coats of color and one coat of Poshe top coat.

Zoya Blaze is another of the strong, scattered holographic polishes. It's a bright raspberry jelly, or possibly crelly with the same holo micro-flake particles. Application was smooth and easy and I used two coats of color and one coat of Poshe.

Zoya Logan is a medium-to-dark forest green full of gold shimmer and green micro-flakes. This is one of two of this collection that isn't holographic. The gold shimmer really warms it up but there appears also to be a slight duochrome quality to it, maybe the flakes, that gives it a somewhat bluish appearance in certain lights making it wearable on both warm and cool skin tones, in my opinion. Perfect formula, two coats of color and no top coat.

Zoya Storm is another scattered holographic polish. This one is a black base full of holographic particles - again the same ones found in Aurora and Blaze only not in as great a quantity. In the shade, these read as silver, giving it a starry night sky look and in sun, the holo comes alive. Same great formula, two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat.

Zoya Ziv is the other of the two non-holographic polishes in this collection. This one is a fantastic yellow gold that has a foil appearance. It's full of gold and copper micro-flakes that give it a great depth, unlike any other gold polish I have. The application was smooth and easy. Two coats of color and one coat of Poshe top coat.

And finally we have Zoya Electra. This one is a clear base full of holographic, thin bar glitter in long and short pieces. This one is almost so dense it doesn't need to be layered, but for my taste, I would always layer it. I'm a serial layerer though. First I've layered it over a plain black creme and used one coat of Poshe top  coat. I'm not a huge fan of the skinny holo bar glitters (or "hairy glitter" as I call it,) but I really didn't have any issues. They all laid perfectly flat. No curling or stray pieces I felt the need to pick at. And the one coat of Poshe smoothed it out nicely.

I've also layered it over each of the other 5 in this collection so you could see what it looked like:

And finally, I picked my favorite, Blaze, and did a fishtail accent nail using Storm and Ziv before I left the house.

So what do you think of this collection? Which one is your favorite? I think this collection is probably Zoya's most unique this year. It's festive and sparkly while not screaming Christmas. I didn't have one single issue with the formula on any of them, which is always impressive. Of course my least favorite is Electra, but it certainly could appeal to the true magpies among us!
