$weetcheeks Polish: Vous Êtes Mon Soleil

*This product is Cruelty Free

$weetcheeks Polish
Vous Êtes Mon Soleil

Tonight I have a very special polish to show you from $weetcheeks Polish called Vous Êtes Mon Soleil. You French speakers will know what it means right away and from what I recall from my high school French it means You are my Sun. So I guessed it references the song You Are My Sunshine. And I was right!

The inspiration behind this lovely polish is the maker's mother. Here's what the maker has to say about it: "This one has a lot of sentimental value to me, as it is made in honor of my mom. She used to sing this song to me when I was young. I love her tons and she is the strongest woman I know, especially now. My mom never wears polish any more but she is rocking this right now!"

Above the Curve: Dusty Huntin' - Swatches and Review

*This product is Cruelty Free

Above the Curve
Dusty Huntin'

The act of "dusty hunting" is scouring salons, swap meets, beauty supply stores, etc. in hopes of finding that elusive, rare, HTF (hard to find) polish. I mean who wouldn't want to find that bottle of Essie Starry Starry Night or Chanel Jade hiding in a box or in the corner of a shop? These sometimes go for $300 and more on eBay forcryinoutloud! So a polish with the name Dusty Huntin' is adorable!

Dusty Huntin' is a lovely medium red scattered holo with a smooth, creamy, perfect formula. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Sorry I haven't had any sun because the holo really comes out to play in the sun, with particular highlights on the lavender. This red reads as a neutral-to-cool toned red on me, but I think it's neutral enough to compliment all skin-tones. The photos above show low lighting, medium lighting and stronger lighting.

I LOVE this one both because of the great formula and the neutral-to-cool tones of the red. What do you think?

Above the Curve polishes are available on their Big Cartel shop here and their Etsy shop here.  And now they are also available at Overall Beauty! You can also follow Above the Curve on Facebook here  and Overall Beauty on Facebook here to stay up-to-date on availability, new collections, promos, etc. The BEST part? $1 of every bottle sold goes to Shriner's Hospital for Children! Full-sized bottles retail for between $8.50 and $9.00.

If you'd like to donate to Shriner's Hospitals for Children separately, you can do so at their donation site here.

Above the Curve
Valentine's Day Collection 2014

I know this is a bit later than I wanted it to be, but this collection (for Valentine's Day) from Above the Curve is just lovely and I think the polishes work all year as well as for Valentine's Day. Plus they're still available in their shop. So I have swatches for you!

There are lots of photos, so except for the collage above, I'm splitting up the post.

Tonight I have the 4th of the newest Blogger Collaboration shades from piCture pOlish - Electric Dream by Nail Polish Anon! This one was created in collaboration with Michaela from Nail Polish Anon.

Michaela's inspiration - the coral in Fiji...

Electric Dream is a creamy coral-leaning bright pink scattered holo - the holo particles are like micro-flakes and they're stunning. No issues at all with formula or application. Two coats for opacity and photos with top coat and without as indicated in the photo captions.

piCture pOlish Freya's Cats - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Tonight I have another of the four latest piCture pOlish Collaboration shades for you - Freya's Cats.

Freya's Cats was created in collaboration with Nihrida and her inspiration is SO cool - from Norse Mythology:

Freya (also known as Freyja) is the Norse goddess of love, beauty, war and death. She rides on a chariot pulled by two blue cats Bygul and Trjegul which were given to her by Thor. That's how my nail polish shade got its name.

piCture pOlish Shy Violet - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Happy Saturday! Hope you're enjoying your weekend so far! Mine has consisted of crawling in and out from under my car trying to replace a strut. Hot. Frustrating. BUT my nails, I must say, are gorgeous. I'm wearing one of the new piCture pOlish Collaboration Shades - Shy Violet!

Shy Violet was created in collaboration with Rachel aka Glam Polish and is described by piCture pOlish as an "electric neon purple jelly scattered holo." I'd call it purple for sure but it does lean to the red-violet side of the spectrum slightly. It's totally gorgeous. The scattered holo particles are like tiny flakes and they sparkle like mad in the sun. This one is a jelly so I used three coats for opacity and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. No issues whatsoever to report.

(*The last photo, a macro shot, is without top coat so you can see that it dries to a "wax" or semi-matte finish. This is actually how I prefer to wear this one.)

The Polish Bar Summer Holo Jellies Collection 2013

*These products are Cruelty Free

Good morning! We're half-way through the work week and I have a collection to show you that is sure to offer a much-needed pick-me-up! The Polish Bar Summer Holo Jellies Collection. Plus my first attempt at a color block mani!

The Polish Bar Summer Holo Jellies Collection 2013

This collection consists of 5 new, bright jellies with a subtle scattered holo: Electric Violet, Shocking Pink, Cobalt Blue, Very Fuchsia and Orange Crush. The names explain the colors perfectly and they all had the same formula and application. They each have a subtle scattered holo and are all true jellies. I've used 4 coats of each one, shown with and without top coat, with no issues at all. They build up to a great wax sort of finish on their own and really shine with top coat. On shorties, I think 3 coats would work great.

a-England Briarwood

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Tonight I have the 5th polish in the Burne-Jones Dream Collection - Briarwood. To see the other four in the collection see my Burne-Jones Dream Collection post here.

Briarwood is described as a deep, vampy red scattered holo polish. While I definitely see the red undertones, this one appears more brown to me. It's a warm, coppery brown scattered holographic with red undertones to my eye.  The red definitely comes out more in artificial lighting.

Colors by Llarowe Sparkles Are a Girl's Best Friend

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

Today I'm wearing one of the new Colors by Llarowe polishes - Sparkles are a Girl's Best Friend.

Sparkles are a Girl's Best Friend is a hot pink/raspberry, tightly scattered holographic polish with purple flash and magenta sparkles. Formula was good and application easy. This one is actually a crelly so it dries to a high shine and while it's opaque in 2 coats, it has a translucent look about it that's hard to describe. No issues at all. No top coat for the photos.

Colors by Llarowe - Angels Sing

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

I thought I'd leave you one more holo from Colors by Llarowe before I pack it up for the weekend. This time I have Angels Sing from the Missing You Collection.

Colors by Llarowe Angels Sing

*Angels Sing proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and it's a Limited Edition polish.*

Angels Sing is described as a white scattered holo. When I saw this in the bottle, I gotta be honest, no WAY was this a holo. I think I was expecting a linear holo. Well, it's not linear, but there's definitely holo in there. It's subtle, though. Once I put it on, I could see it on the nail. It's not in-your-face, but I think if any more holo were to be added, it would no longer be white. As it is, it leans a touch to the pale dove grey side. No issues with formula or application. I used 3 light coats for opacity and no top coat for the photos. At the end, I have a photo with it over a plain white creme for comparison.

Ruby White Tips - Kim

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

I'm back with another polish from Ruby White Tips for you - this time it's called Kim!

Ruby White Tips polishes are all at least 3-free and most are 5-free, and vegan. They test their polishes for several months before releasing. Stay with me until the end of the post for a 20% off code!

Kim is a neutral putty creme/shimmer with scattered micro holo particles. Subtle and pretty. No issues with formula or application. I used two light coats and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. It's been rainy here (thank GOODNESS) for days so I wasn't able to take photos in full sun.

Different Dimension Wide Awake - Swatches and Review

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

Wake Up!!! *hands everyone a cup of coffee*

Today I have Different Dimension WIDE AWAKE to show you!

Wide Awake is  described as "a light pink scattered holographic polish with hints of different colors reflected in the light (a hot pink 'flash'). It looks amazing by itself or layered over other colors."

I didn't know this but apparently the name was inspired by a Katy Perry song? "I'm wide awake, Not losing any sleep, I picked up every piece, And landed on my feet, I'm wide awake, Need nothing to complete myself, no." The only Perry I really know is Perry Como, so I'll take their word for it! Regardless, it's GORGEOUS. I used 2 coats for opacity and no top coat for the photos. No issues to report at all - formula and application were fantastic.

Different Dimension - Black Dahlia

It's late but I just HAD to show you this polish before I went to bed. Different Dimension Black Dahlia.

Black Dahlia is a stunner, in my opinion. It's a great grey/charcoal holo but it also has shimmer and glitter! Just enough to enhance it, nothing overpowering. Perfect mix. Here's what the maker had to say about it: "Black Dahlia is a black leaning greyish purple scattered holographic polish with hints of different colors reflected in the light, it also has micro iridescent glitters in it. It looks amazing by itself or layered over other colors."

I used 2 coats of this one alone and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. No issues at all with formula or application.

Ozotic 914 Scatter - Swatches and Review

Monday, Monday - can't trust that day... BUT you can trust that it comes after Sunday every. Single. Week. It doesn't have to be a downer though. Today I'm showing you my happy nails! They're always happy in holo. Holla!

I'm wearing Ozotic 914 Scatter! This one is one of their "Scatter Chromes." It's a great medium royal blue with purple undertones and holo! There is a subtle color-shift from vibrant blue to a cool-toned purple and while it may look "glittery" there's no glitter in it so removal is a breeze. I had no issues at all with formula or application - two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos.

piCture pOlish Cosmos - Swatches and Review

Happy Saturday!!!!!! Today I have one of those rare OMGOSHWHATISTHATPOLISH? polishes to show you. Unfortunately, as is the nature of those types of polishes, they are impossible to photograph well enough for you to see all the yumminess.

piCture pOlish Cosmos, for all of you nail aficionados, the best way for me to describe this one is to tell you it's like the blue version of DS Extravagance - actually more like if DS Extravagance and ChG Ruby Pumps had a baby but the blue version. I'm not sure how piCture pOlish will feel about that comparison, but I know you guys will know exactly what I mean. It has almost a jelly-ish look to it as far as squishiness and the depth it so amazing. It's a medium to dark blue scattered holo that does lean to the teal side in some lighting. Application and formula were both flawless. Two coats for opacity. No issues to report at all. One coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

What do you think of this one? Look at the flakes in that macro! I really wish I could have had a little sun and been able to capture the holo and this polish in general in all its glory.
