Zoya Magical Pixie: Spring 2014 - Swatches and Review

*These products are Cruelty Free

Zoya Magical Pixie
Spring 2014

Zoya's newest addition to the Pixie Dust family is Magical Pixie, which consists of 3 new shades of textured polish, but this time, with a twist. They've added holographic hex glitters that sparkle like mad! I had no sun and none is predicted for the remainder of the week, but take my word - they're sparkly!

All three of these had the exact same formula. As is the nature of textured polishes, especially ones with glitter added, these are quite chunky. The formula/application, however, was good. I used two easy coats for all three and no top coat (except the last photo of each one where I show it with top coat) with dry time in between. They dry fairly fast, so I didn't have any issues - as far as chunky polishes go. For the photos with top coat, I used two coats of HK Girl Top Coat.

Swatches after the jump...

And now I want to show you how I will personally wear these. As I've said before, I'm not a big textured polish fan, but wearing them as a tonal gradient is more my style. So below, I'm showing you coordinating base shades using Zoya polishes with the Magical Pixie polishes as reverse gradients.

Zoya Cosmo over Zoya Seraphina...

Zoya Lux over Zoya Brigitte...

And finally, Zoya Vega. I've already had a few people ask if this was more blue or more green. So I thought I'd show Vega over both Zoya Skylar (blue) over Zoya Bevin (green) and let you guys see.

Here's the base...

And here's the final result...

You can see here that Vega is more blue than green. To my eye there wasn't a question, but I understand that some people see blues and greens differently.

So what are your thoughts on these? Personally, I'm not a huge fan of textures to begin with and glitter certainly isn't my thing, but these do have a super sparkle factor and I'm likely to wear them as a tonal gradient manicure as I showed above.

These polishes, as well as 100s of other great Zoya polishes, are available on, at select salons and spas and at Ulta. You can also follow Zoya on Facebook to get in on their frequent promotions and discounts as well as other information. 1. Amazing pics! I LOVE the gradients - especially Lux over Brigitte!

  2. I love your gradients! Imho they look much cooler than these new polishes by themselves!

  3. I love your idea of how to use these in a gradient. I actually just placed a Zoya order and will get these 3 in minis as a freebie--and I have most of the colors you used. Can't wait to try these cute manis. I also do have a few other textured polishes that I haven't tried yet. In most photos, I usually like them best with top coat, LOL. But I like that you can wear them either way.

  4. wow...they are so pretty <3 <3 <3

  5. I love how you used these as a glitter gradient! Such a fantastic idea!

  6. Awesome! Lovely colors and I'm sure I will love them madly :D
    I adore your swatches! x

  7. These are just so pretty, I can hardly stand it!
