KBShimmer Winter 2012 - Swatches and Review of 4 of the 9

This evening I'm excited to show you 4 of the nine new polishes from KBShimmer's Winter Collection 2012!

The polishes in this collection are:

All Decked Out
Berry Christmas
Candy Cane
Cocoa Nut
Hex Appeal
Snow Way
Sugar Plum Faeries
We Three Blings
Wrappers Delight

I have Berry Christmas, Cocoa Nut, Snow Way and We Three Blings for you. To see some of the others, please go check out swatches from my friends, Lisa at Cosmetic Sanctuary and Amy at I'm Feeling Nail-Venturous. They did a fantastic job!

First up, Berry Christmas. This one is a red jelly base with red shimmer and red, pink and purple glitter pieces. Application was great - no issues. It dries sort of matte, so you will need a top coat to bring out the stunning glittery shine. It's a tad top coat hungry. I used two coats of the polish with one coat of Gelous for the photos and later I applied another coat of Gelous and a coat of Poshe.

Cocoa Nut is a warm brown jelly base with pink and gold micro-glitter and couple of different sizes of  fuchsia and pink hex glitters. Again, great application - no issues. Two coats of color and one coat of Gelous. This one is my favorite of the collection. I just love the way the fuchsia glitters pop against the warm brown base.

Snow Way is a few different sizes of matte white glitters and iridescent shimmer or micro-glitter in a baby blue base. This one was a smidge on the thick side and I had a little trouble with application, but not too much. I adore the look of it - like a winter day. First I used 2 medium coats and a coat of Gelous.

Then I tried three thin coats and a coat of Gelous...

Finally we have We Three Blings. This one is a stunning gold glitter/shimmer in a clear base. There are various sizes of gold and gold holo glitter pieces and gold shimmer. Application was perfect - no issues at all. I've layered one coat over a plain black creme, but really the layering you can do with this one is unlimited. Great year-round.

Overall, all nine of these polishes in the Winter Collection are great. My favorite is Cocoa Nut, followed closely by We Three Blings. My least favorite is probably Snow Way just because it's not self-leveling and I had a bit of trouble applying to get it to come out like Lisa and Amy in the links above. Based on their photos and reviews, I'm thinking my bottle might just be a tad different. But it is lovely and I would wear it again. What do you think of these?

  4. Thanks for such good photos of these. I like this line but I really don't like a lot of curling and raised up glitter - I can always wait for your photos to tell me which of this company's shades are worth me spending my $ on and not end up feeling I wasted my $ on ones that are not in my ballpark of what I will wear because of my 'thing' over having too much 'elevation' (and grit) on my nails from polish.

  5. I really love Cocoa Nut! Pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations and with the added shimmer, this is one great polish!
