Every Friday the 13th Above the Curve launched a new polish. They've done it 3 times so far and each one has been stunning. The catch is they're only available for THAT day. If you miss them, you have to wait for the next Friday the 13th to roll around, at which time they generally have a new one and past versions available.

I'm not sure how I missed #2 but that's the one I'm showing you today. It's a lovely taupe-based holographic polish with a strong violet lavender flash. No issues at all with the formula or application. Two coats and no top coat for the photos. Be sure and check out the yummy micro-flakes in the shade macro at the end!

What do you think? So far I've adored all three but #1 is still my favorite.

These special Friday the 13th polishes are only available on Friday the 13th. The GOOD thing is that they generally offer past versions as well. The next time Friday falls on the 13th is in February 2015 and then there are 2 more for 2015 (March and November) - so if you want any of them, put them on your wish list and mark your calendars!

I'm not having the best week - major changes are coming at me like a train and I've pretty much made myself sick over it, so today I thought I'd show you a really pretty polish I put on to cheer me up. Short and sweet.

Lemming Have It is my favorite sort of holo - it's a "tightly scattered" or "loose linear" - just perfect. And the purple is a lovely medium shade that has enough blue in it to almost make it a blurple. Two coats and no top coat for the photos. No issues with formula or application. Perfection.

Isn't it lovely? So now I have happy hands. And the name is so cute. I've never much cared for people calling highly sought after polishes lemmings...not sure why. Technically, if we wanted to use lemming, the seeker would be the lemming. However, in recent weeks I've seen ill-informed articles calling the seekers of polish lemmings and that is so much worse and just not how the polish community has bastardized the word at all. If they're going to get it wrong, they should get it wrong the RIGHT WAY! LOL! Anyway, I'm a sucker for a great play on words so this one is cute.

So...I ripped a nail. You've been seeing shorties on here, but the rip went beyond shorties. However, with so many pretties to show you I decided to swatch them for you on my super nubs. I figured if I could handle it, so could you! I did have to let it grow out past the bloody stage for your sake and for mine (the acetone burned the heck out of it)! Soon, I'm hoping to be able to even them up as well, but right now, they're still too short to even up, given the natural unevenness of my nail beds. *sigh*

But the polishes make up for it!

Actually, once they grow just enough to even them up, I think I quite love this length!

I'm particularly excited to show you Above the Curve's Spring collection because they've been sitting on my desk, staring at me longingly, waiting...waiting through nail breaks and sinus infections and me being loopy from medications. Here in South Texas, Spring already "sprung" and I swear one of them started tapping its lil foot at me yesterday.

Dusty Huntin'

The act of "dusty hunting" is scouring salons, swap meets, beauty supply stores, etc. in hopes of finding that elusive, rare, HTF (hard to find) polish. I mean who wouldn't want to find that bottle of Essie Starry Starry Night or Chanel Jade hiding in a box or in the corner of a shop? These sometimes go for $300 and more on eBay forcryinoutloud! So a polish with the name Dusty Huntin' is adorable!

Dusty Huntin' is a lovely medium red scattered holo with a smooth, creamy, perfect formula. Two coats and no top coat for the photos.

Sorry I haven't had any sun because the holo really comes out to play in the sun, with particular highlights on the lavender. This red reads as a neutral-to-cool toned red on me, but I think it's neutral enough to compliment all skin-tones. The photos above show low lighting, medium lighting and stronger lighting.

I LOVE this one both because of the great formula and the neutral-to-cool tones of the red. What do you think?

It's been COLD outside so I've been wearing my hat. I love hats.

The Day of the Doctor 50th Anniversary special has come and gone. I've seen mixed reviews but personally I LOVED IT! I really miss Tennant. #sadness
