Lighthouse of Hope Collaboration Box: Swatches and Review

Press Sample
*These products are Cruelty Free

Happy Saturday!

This special edition box I'm going to show you is a collaboration between eight indie polish makers with proceeds benefiting the group I Need a LightHouse.

I Need a LightHouse is an awesome organization that works directly with people who suffer from depressive disorders as well as educating the family members of those individuals so that they can learn coping methods to help their loved ones. For more information about the organization, check them out here.

The box will include the following 8 polishes AND a She Shines topcoat from Alter Ego!

Lighthouse of Hope
Collaboration Box

Continued after the jump...

Each maker took the time to tell a bit about their own polish and the inspiration so I've copied that for you with my thoughts on the polishes following. With each polish, I've used one coat of the She Shines top coat from Alter Ego, which is also included in each box.

Unfortunately, the sun deserted me before I was finished swatching these and hasn't shown its face for nearly a week. So some will have sun photos and some won't.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Alter Ego - Grows Hope
A medium green foil-ish finish. While this woman doesn't suffer from depression she knows lots of people who do. She Grows Hope for those she knows who suffer, trying to make others more aware of how personal these issues can be, and by standing quietly by the side of these people she loves so much, without judgement, to help in whatever way she can.

I used 2 coats of this one with one coat of top coat for the photos. The formula and application were smooth and easy. No issues to report at all. This one dries to a semi-matte and can be worn without top coat. But with She Shines top coat, she really shines.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer - Never Look Back
A clear base packed with emerald green micro-glitter and sparks of blue and purple. As someone who suffers from clinical depression, I’m constantly reminding myself to look to the future and not dwell on the past.  It can be immensely difficult to do so, but it is completely necessary for my recovery.  Remember that the future holds amazing things, so don’t dwell on the bad from the past!

I used three light coats and one coat of top coat for the photos. Good formula. No issues with application at all.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

ellagee - Sparks Of Hope
A lush emerald green with subtle shifts of teal and gold sparkling with gold holo dust. Because when things look dark even the smallest spark of hope can light the way to healing.

For this one I used two coats and one coat of top coat. Great formula - no issues to report at all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peita’s Polish - Serenity
A teal crelly full of various sized turquoise holographic glitter. It reminds me of the twinkling clear waters of Australian beaches. I know the beach is often a place of solace for many people in times of stress.

I used two coats of this one with one coat of top coat for the photos. Perfect formula and application.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Philly Loves Lacquer - I Made You a Nest
A lightly tinted teal base packed with silver, turquoise, teal, blue, and green micro glitters. I made this to pay homage to the comic by Robot Hugs, which I found right before I sought help for my own depression. Sometimes you just need a friend to make you a nest of cuddly blankets and hang out with you in it when things are really rough.

I used three coats of this with one coat of top coat. The thumb has one coat layered over a plain black creme. So sparkly! Sad the sun was gone by the time I got to this one.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rica - Alchemical Seas of Hope
A sea green jelly with various green/gold glitters (dots, squares, hexes and micro glitter) in various finishes (holographic, metallic and matte). I named it Alchemical Seas of Hope because sometimes depression can feel like you’re in turbulent seas. As hard things may seem to be, there is always a lighthouse of hope in the horizon. Don’t lose sight of that.

I used three light coats of this one with one coat of top coat for the photos. The glitters were perfectly suspended in the base and came out easily.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Superficially Colorful - Breathe
An aqua/turquoise holographic polish with a little silver and blue shimmer. I think it's what we all need. To take a deep breath and go on. Everything is easier when you can breathe.

I used two coats of this with one coat of top coat. No issues to report. Smooth and easy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweet Heart Polish - You’re Amazing
A deep royal blue jelly with a mix of matte, metallic, and holographic blue glitters in a variety of shapes and sizes with micro iridescent bar glitter. I named this beauty You’re Amazing, because sometimes you can forget this and it always nice to have a reminder.

Because my nails are so stained, I layered this one over a base of plain white. Three light coats with one coat of top coat. No issues at all with formula or application.

What do you think? Seriously a great box for a great cause. I can't even choose a favorite, so it's a good thing they're all together in one box! It's also a great way to try out each brand if you haven't already.

Boxes will be available starting tomorrow, Sunday, November 16 at NOON Eastern (11am Central) at the Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer shop

This is a very limited box with only 20 being made available for sale.  Each box will cost $80 shipped domestically (USA) and $60 of each box will be donated to I Need a Lighthouse within a week of selling out.  International packages will be shipped flat rate priority.

For transparency purposes, Julie of Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer will provide screenshots of the donation amount once it has been made.  If anyone would like to make a donation directly, they can easily do so via the I Need A Lighthouse website.
