Zoya Ornate Collection 2012

As promised, tonight I have the Zoya Ornate Collection 2012 to show you!

Zoya Ornate Collection 2012, Aurora, Blaze, Electra, Logan, Storm and Ziv

So let's get right to it!

Zoya Aurora is a sparkly violet purple packed full of holographic glass fleck particles. Actually, if you view the closeup, it almost looks like holographic micro-flakes. I'm really not sure which it is, but I'm a sucker for micro-flakes! This is a strong scattered holo and the formula was very easy to work with. I used two coats of color and one coat of Poshe top coat.

Zoya Blaze is another of the strong, scattered holographic polishes. It's a bright raspberry jelly, or possibly crelly with the same holo micro-flake particles. Application was smooth and easy and I used two coats of color and one coat of Poshe.

Zoya Logan is a medium-to-dark forest green full of gold shimmer and green micro-flakes. This is one of two of this collection that isn't holographic. The gold shimmer really warms it up but there appears also to be a slight duochrome quality to it, maybe the flakes, that gives it a somewhat bluish appearance in certain lights making it wearable on both warm and cool skin tones, in my opinion. Perfect formula, two coats of color and no top coat.

Zoya Storm is another scattered holographic polish. This one is a black base full of holographic particles - again the same ones found in Aurora and Blaze only not in as great a quantity. In the shade, these read as silver, giving it a starry night sky look and in sun, the holo comes alive. Same great formula, two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat.

Zoya Ziv is the other of the two non-holographic polishes in this collection. This one is a fantastic yellow gold that has a foil appearance. It's full of gold and copper micro-flakes that give it a great depth, unlike any other gold polish I have. The application was smooth and easy. Two coats of color and one coat of Poshe top coat.

And finally we have Zoya Electra. This one is a clear base full of holographic, thin bar glitter in long and short pieces. This one is almost so dense it doesn't need to be layered, but for my taste, I would always layer it. I'm a serial layerer though. First I've layered it over a plain black creme and used one coat of Poshe top  coat. I'm not a huge fan of the skinny holo bar glitters (or "hairy glitter" as I call it,) but I really didn't have any issues. They all laid perfectly flat. No curling or stray pieces I felt the need to pick at. And the one coat of Poshe smoothed it out nicely.

I've also layered it over each of the other 5 in this collection so you could see what it looked like:

And finally, I picked my favorite, Blaze, and did a fishtail accent nail using Storm and Ziv before I left the house.

So what do you think of this collection? Which one is your favorite? I think this collection is probably Zoya's most unique this year. It's festive and sparkly while not screaming Christmas. I didn't have one single issue with the formula on any of them, which is always impressive. Of course my least favorite is Electra, but it certainly could appeal to the true magpies among us!

  8. I definitely need Blaze in my life! And I am torn about the gold one. I have very fair skin and golds never look good on me, but this one looks kinda different.

  12. Now this is what I call a Holiday collection! I think Electra is a little too much for me, but I admit it looks cool, especially over Ziv. Thanks for the swatches!

  16. I am insane for Aurora and Blaze...Storm is nice that finally someone made a black polish that all the goodies don't go into hiding in the bottle and/or on the nail. I also am among the lucky ones who got the 3 piece 18kt gold set with the white and black polishes in it (and have the OPI Man With The Golden Gun as well too - which I think the latter might be a bit more my fav of the 2).
