Essie Luxeffects As Gold As It Gets and Pure Pearlfection Swatches

Tonight I decided to try As Gold As It Gets and Pure Pearlfection over my current mani before I changed it up. I've already done a review and swatches of Shine of the Times here and I didn't pick up the other two in the Luxeffects collection because they're straight glitters.

My current mani is Revlon Naughty (the re-released Perplex) and you can see it is time to change it. First up is As Gold As It Gets. It's actually a flaky, which I couldn't tell when I bought it. Yay flakies! It has various sizes of flakes that shift from gold to copper in come lighting.

Pure Pearlfection is a white/silver sparkle, not sure if it's glass fleck or micro-glitter or micro-shimmer, in a clear base. I haven't read anything that mentions it yet, but it has a blue sparkle in it as well. I tried it in different lighting and different locations to make sure it wasn't a reflection and it's not. It sparkles blue. The blue comes across best in the last photo.

I may try doing comparisons of some of the white sparkle polishes I have later. I have an OPI one and a couple of China Glaze ones, but I know none of them sparkle blue.

I did have just one "gold sparkle" polish that I've compared with As Gold As It Gets. They're not really alike though.

Orly Prisma Gloss Gold vs Essie As Gold As It Gets

The Orly isn't a flaky like the Essie. And the Essie base is slightly milky rather than clear.  They're totally different.

So I have nothing like either one of these in my collection! Shine of the Times, however, is quite comparable to Nubar 2010...except it has more flakies than the Nubar.

  1. I love Gold As It Gets, although I'm usually a silver girl. A gold that stays gold instead of flashing orange/green. I'm enchanted with it over dark cobalt blues and rich, medium dark purple cremes, so luxe looking. Can't wait until it's time to vamp for the winter.
