Kiko 385 "Pastel Blue" - Swatches and Review - and a Comparison

I swear the Kiko names get lost in translation from Italian to English because this one is not what I would call pastel blue - at least to MY eyes! Maybe a Cornflower Blue? But it's such a gorgeous shade that you know I had to show it.

This one is a vibrant blue that also has a touch of purple making it *almost* a periwinkle but not quite, I just couldn't capture it. The formula, as is the norm with Kiko, is like butter. Smooth and easy.

Nail of the Day: Kiko 240 Apple Red

It's FRIDAY!!!! I just have a quick "drop and run" Nail of the Day for you today with Kiko 240 Apple Red.

Kiko 240 is called "Apple Red" by Kiko, but it's a medium blue-based cool-toned red creme. Formula and application are perfect - in keeping with all of the other Kiko cremes I've tried.

Two coats with one coat of Dazzle Dry top coat for the photos.

You can purchase Kiko polishes anywhere from £0.50 to £4.49 on their site here IF you're not in the US. They are based in Italy and ship all over Europe and the UK. Unfortunately, I don't know of any stocklists in the US who carry them. Ninja Polish has the Sugar Mats (textured collection) but for regular polishes? I'm still waiting!

Nail of the Day: Kiko 315

I swear sometimes I wonder how I manage to stumble through life. I'm wearing a polish I've worn at least a dozen times and yet I've never posted swatches! But that's not the worst. I've taken swatch photos THREE times and still didn't manage to get it posted.

So tonight I AM posting it.

Kiko 315 "Dark Mauve"

Why it's called "Dark Mauve" I do not know. Loses something in the translation from Italian to English? Good thing they number them! But it's a warm-toned purple.

Two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat. Perfect, creamy, smooth formula. Perfection as are all of the Kiko cremes I've tried.

Curse Royal Mail! I'm not sure how I'm going to get my Kiko fix now.

I figured after my last post (with 18 kajillion photos) I'd give your scrolling finger a little relief and break them up into smaller posts.

Happy Monday! This morning I have a "teaser" post for you. One-finger swatches of the Kiko Sugar Mat Collection. Starting soon I will have full swatches and reviews and (are you sitting down?) US purchasing information! Yes, that's right United States Availability!!!


But for now...

These shades are numbered 631 through (and including) 646. There are 8 with "sparkle" and 8 without.

These are quick one-finger swatches of course, but wait until you see the full swatches!

First impression - I loved them because the formula was great on all of them - two coats, just a minute or so dry time between coats. No top coat of course. I did no clean up at all and was extra pleased that they weren't messy to apply.

Are you as excited as I am to get ANY Kiko in the US? One of my favorite brands and hopefully, eventually, we will have access to the full line, but for now, I'll settle for special collections like the Sugar Mats.

Kiko #401 Peacock Green Holo

Monday. AGAIN. It's cold and yucky here but I have a cheerful polish! Today I'm showing you the last of the 4 Kiko holographic polishes: #401 Peacock Green. I call this one the "blue holo" because, well, it's BLUE! LOL!

Peacock Green is a blue linear holo polish and the application was just as great as the other three (if you missed those posts you can click these links: Silky Taupe, Jewel Pink and Steel Grey) and went on easily and smoothly. Two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos. Also, I didn't use a base for it.

Kiko 402 Jewel Pink

Happy Sunday! This morning I have another of the Kiko Holo polishes to show you. This one is #402 - the hot pink holo called Jewel Pink! I've worn this one a few times and used it in a water marble but never got around to blogging it. Sorry! You can see the Grey here and the Taupe here. Stay tuned for the blue one coming up soon (which they call Peacock Green for some reason.)

Happy Saturday!

I just realized that I fell so hard for Kiko 400 Steel Grey holo that I never got around to showing you the other Kiko holos! So this morning I have the taupe one to show you.

Kiko #399 Silky Taupe Holo is just that, a light taupe/sand colored strong linear holographic polish. The photos speak for themselves really. Formula and application were a dream. No issues to report at all! Two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos. I didn't use a base at all...not even a regular base coat.

Kiko #240 Apple Red

It's FRIDAY!

This morning I have another Kiko polish for you. I don't know if it's because it's a "foreign" (to me) brand that's hard to get in the US or what, but I'm loving Kiko...especially the formula of their cremes.

Kiko #240 Apple Red is no exception to the great Kiko creme formula. Smooth and easy - two coats for full opacity. I don't know that "Apple Red" is what I would call this one, but I frequently disagree with the names they give their polishes, which could explain why they stick to the numbers. This one is a rich and creamy blue-based red. Shown with no top coat here.

This is one of those "staple" reds, in my opinion. I have a lot of reds. A lot of red cremes, actually. But the ones I reach for are the ones with easy application and creamy formula. For a slightly orange-based red, I reach for Chanel Dragon. And now for my blue-based red, I can see reaching for this one more often. Illamasqua Throb is still probably my favorite red right now though.

Kiko #400 Grey Holo - Swatches and Review

Sorry for not posting at all Saturday! I was feeling under the weather and NOW, at 1:30 am, I finally start to feel better so I thought I'd show you one of my new favorites. Kiko 400 - Grey Holo. Kiko recently released four new linear holographic polishes and of course I had to have them. Now I already need backups of two of them - this is one of them.

Kiko 400 is a grey linear holo that goes on like a dream and is a ONE COATER! These photos were taken after 3 days of tip wear - one coat and no wrapping of tips or top coat.

Kiko #332 Dark Violet

Today I have Kiko #332 - Dark Violet. Well, it's listed as "Dark Violet" on their website, but I'm not sure that's what I would call it. It's more like a periwinkle/violet to me. It's a creme and I used 2 coats for full opacity. The formula and application were great, as in all the other Kikos I've tried so far. I really like this brand!

I found it difficult to get a color-accurate photo. These are fairly accurate, though. The last photo - the one with the orange hands? That's pretty color-accurate for indoors in artificial lighting.
