Rescue Beauty Lounge Killa Red

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Rescue Beauty Lounge
Killa Red

This one isn't new but it's new to me and I really don't know what took me so long to try it. I think I thought it was going to be too sheer and hard to build to opacity. I was wrong! Plus I'm drawn to reds more when I have short nails.

Nail of the Day: Kiko 240 Apple Red

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

It's FRIDAY!!!! I just have a quick "drop and run" Nail of the Day for you today with Kiko 240 Apple Red.

Kiko 240 is called "Apple Red" by Kiko, but it's a medium blue-based cool-toned red creme. Formula and application are perfect - in keeping with all of the other Kiko cremes I've tried.

Two coats with one coat of Dazzle Dry top coat for the photos.

You can purchase Kiko polishes anywhere from £0.50 to £4.49 on their site here IF you're not in the US. They are based in Italy and ship all over Europe and the UK. Unfortunately, I don't know of any stocklists in the US who carry them. Ninja Polish has the Sugar Mats (textured collection) but for regular polishes? I'm still waiting!

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!

Thrifty Thursday! Starring Essence Do You Speak Love

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

It's THURSDAY! Ever-closer to the weekend again! And it's time for another Thrifty Thursday installment. Today, I have a fantastic RED from the Essence Colour and Go line - Do You Speak Love.

Do You Speak Love is a medium blue-based red crelly. The bottles are 8mL and retail for $1.99. I'm not sure where else they're sold, but Ulta carries them and that's where I got mine. The crelly formula leaves you with the juicy, shiny look with 2 coats for opacity. I used two coats and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. No issues at all to report and on day 2, still not even a smidge of tip wear.

Sorry about the reflection of my camera and fingers! But that just shows how truly shiny this one is. It's a great red crelly and for $1.99 I'd recommend it. What do YOU think?

Nails Inc. Burlington Arcade - Swatches and Review

I'm not a fan of metallic-y reds and I rarely wear them. In fact, I've decided to pass on Chanel Malice (*faint*) because of that. BUT, I've gotten rid of every metallic red I had except one. Nails Inc. Burlington Arcade. I don't wear it often, but it does have that little something extra special that ensures its place in my collection.

Burlington Arcade had that metallic red look about it, but it also has a lot of depth that I believe is due to the blue and magenta micro-shimmer glowing from within it. Also, it's application is very smooth and easy and streak-free. I used two coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos.

What do you think of this one? Is it one you need to add to your collection?

A limited selection of Nails Inc polishes are available through Amazon.com or Sephora.com for around $9.50 in the US and the entire line is available through Nails Inc's own site nailsinc.com for around £11.00. Nails Inc. doesn't ship to the US so I'm ever thankful to my UK buddies for keeping me supplied.

Kiko #240 Apple Red

It's FRIDAY!

This morning I have another Kiko polish for you. I don't know if it's because it's a "foreign" (to me) brand that's hard to get in the US or what, but I'm loving Kiko...especially the formula of their cremes.

Kiko #240 Apple Red is no exception to the great Kiko creme formula. Smooth and easy - two coats for full opacity. I don't know that "Apple Red" is what I would call this one, but I frequently disagree with the names they give their polishes, which could explain why they stick to the numbers. This one is a rich and creamy blue-based red. Shown with no top coat here.

Kiko #240 Apple Red

This is one of those "staple" reds, in my opinion. I have a lot of reds. A lot of red cremes, actually. But the ones I reach for are the ones with easy application and creamy formula. For a slightly orange-based red, I reach for Chanel Dragon. And now for my blue-based red, I can see reaching for this one more often. Illamasqua Throb is still probably my favorite red right now though.

Zoya Zsa Zsa Swatches and Review

Zoya Zsa Zsa

Classic RED Alert!!!

For so long I had the hardest time finding MY perfect red. But recently, I've hit a streak of luck.

While I love Chanel Rouge Carat and Dior Mervielle and Apparat are great, they're not straight cremes and MY "perfect red" is a creme. Chanel Pirate was the one I thought would be "it."  It wasn't. It could have been the one except for I hated the "crelly" formula and the VNL I still had after multiple coats. So I sent it on to a new home where it is now loved. Then came Chanel Dragon. Perfection in a bottle. I'd finally found it!

Then I'm on the Zoya site ordering a few polishes and on a whim I ordered Zsa Zsa. And yes, I'm shallow enough that it was probably the name that decided. I'll admit it.

It sat on my shelf for quite a while, untried. It was hard to reach for a red with Yara and Dree and Petra (my all-time favorite Zoya polish) sitting there. And when I did want red, I reached for Chanel Dragon. All the while, poor lil Zsa Zsa sat patiently waiting for me.

Well I finally reached for her and she did NOT disappoint! She is more than I ever expected her to be.

After the first coat, I was doubtful. But the second coat was magic. And Zsa Zsa is the perfect blue-based red color. I did put on a third coat because I still had a tiny bit of VNL, which I am freakishly retentive about. I *might* even say the formula is slightly on the crelly side. But not like Chanel Pirate, thankfully.

And I got a ton of compliments on it! That always ups the appeal. *grin*

Here she is...

Is Zoya Zsa Zsa better than Chanel Dragon? No. But if Chanel Dragon gets 100%, this one is at a respectable 95%, formula being the only reason.  When you factor in the cost difference, though?  Well, you decide.
