The Digit-al Dozen Does Decades: 20s Art Deco

Nothing to Disclose

The Digit-al Dozen is back for another fun theme week! This time it's DECADES! Well after my initiation into the group was Textures, I was so happy to see Decades. Like I breathed an audible sigh of relief. Until I sat down and tried to get creative. See creativity sort of overtakes me. It appears from nowhere. So if you could see the faces I make when I have to try to get creative, you'd laugh your head off. I didn't look in the mirror, but I'd imagine it's akin to a toddler trying to learn that the square block doesn't fit into the circle hole.

I mean is it really going to end up with me doing the clichés? Well honestly, I imagine a few of the days will end up as just that. But that's okay. If you don't mind though, on those days I'll be referring to them as "iconic" and not "cliché." kthx

So I'm starting this one off with my interpretation of Art Deco that flourished in the 20s and 30s.

I used a base of Wet n Wild WildShine Black Creme with a really old gold metallic from L'Oreal - so old the name is worn off from the bottle. And then I used some black acrylic paint and a striping brush for some of the other black details.

It reminds me of some of the designs found in some of the old, ornate deco-style theatres. Art Deco blends rich colors and geometric shapes and that's always been appealing to me, though I tend to the less ornate version leaning mostly to the craftsman style.

Hope you enjoyed my interpretation!

Be sure and check out the other awesome Decades Manis in the links below and Happy Monday!

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!
