Weekend Bits and Bobs: April 27, 2014 - Eye Shadow, Lipstick and Hermès, Oh My

Nothing to Disclose

Howdy! Another week GONE. Sometimes it seems like they last forever and other times I feel like I blinked and missed the entire week. This week behaved more like Sheldon Cooper as the Flash.

Continued after the jump...

Most recent in my memory, since I have only slept once since then, are the yummy cinnamon streusel muffins I made yesterday...perfect with a fresh pot of coffee.

If you want the Cinnamon Streusel Muffin recipe, click here. But first, can someone PLEASE tell me why, when every recipe I have makes 12 muffins and every muffin tin I have is for 12 muffins, cupcake/muffin stands are ALWAYS for 18 muffins? How is that even remotely logical? It's the hotdog/bun conundrum all over again. Have we learned NOTHING?

But they were yummy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of food, you know how you get a can of mixed nuts and your favorites are the pecans but after the ONE lone pecan on top, you can't find anymore until you pour the entire can into a bowl and finger through all of them and the payoff is like a grand total of 4 parts and pieces of a pecan? Yeah that was a huge run-on sentence, but it's so frustrating, I forget myself sometimes! Or am I the only one who does that?

Well I've known for a long time that Planters made cans of just cashews or just pecans. Not once, however, until today, did it ever occur to me to BUY a can. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it's too much of an indulgence? I'd feel guilty? It's "wasting money we don't have" as my mom would have said? Well today I did it. And I have to say I don't feel a BIT guilty!

Okay, FINE, maybe I feel just a twinge of guilt after scarfing down about half the can.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I picked up one of the newer Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color shades from Walgreens. It's 04 Violet Addict. I almost never wear lip gloss, liquid lip color, anything sticky. I tend to get it everywhere and haven't had a lot of luck with them lasting on me. But this color was too pretty, so I had to give it a whirl.

It was more pink than the violet I expected but still super pretty. As you can see in the photo above where I've compared it to the Milani Color Statement Violet Volt, it's definitely much more pink. And if you like liquid lip color, I'm sure this one would be fine. I just can't get used to that slick, sticky feel and I feel like I'm 5 years old when I wear them because as I said, I DO get them everywhere. My coffee cup, my shirt collar, the back of my hand...my elbow? Okay I haven't gotten it on my elbow yet, but give me time. So I'll stick with the lipstick. I did notice that it leaves a tinted "stain" even after it's worn off, so at least you're not running around with nekkid-looking lips. Retail $6.49 at Walgreens.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a moment of weakness when I saw 20% off at All Cosmetics Wholesale that one of my friends (so kindly) posted on Facebook and ordered a Diego Dalla Palma "collection" inspired by Snow White and the Huntsman. I actually didn't even notice the Snow White thing when I ordered it - I'm not a collector or Disney-lover in particular. But I liked the contents! And it was ON SALE!

I had to laugh at myself trying to "swatch" it though. You guys know nail polish is my thing but I've been having a little fun with lipsticks and shadows and such in these informal Bits and Bobs posts. Well I could not for the life of me capture the eye shadows because I am SO PALE! But I'm going to post the photos anyhow....for what it's worth. LOL!

It came in a nice case with a magnetic closure and mirror inside - like a real one, not the warped fake kind. There are six eye shadows, an eye liner and a lipstick.

And this is the photo (below) I SWEAR there are 6 eye shadows on there even though you can only really see two of them.

So since "Fairest" completely disappears into my skin, I guess I really AM "the fairest of them all!" Bwahahahahaaaaa!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also in my All Cosmetics Wholesale order was a tube of Chanel Rouge Coco in #28 Byzantin.

This one is as creamy and smooth and long-lasting as all the others I've tried and I'm in love with all of the Rouge Coco line so far.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And last but NOT least I finally scored the RED colorway of my favorite Hermes scarf! Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches 70 cm. Now I'm only missing the blue colorway, but that's for another year.

And it just so happened that Elevation Polish Uluru and Aiguilles d'Arves both went with it really well! The photos are iPhone ones so not that great, but it sure worked out!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My favorite mani of the week was this mani. I was doing a comparison request and I liked this so much I did it on the other hand and wore it! Elevation Polish Mount McKinley and Tavan Bogd.

Have a GREAT week!

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

    1. Giggle. Well I can never seem to find stuff when searching if they're in my bits and bobs posts and I'll remember pecans if I'm looking for something else in the post. :p

  2. I really enjoy your writing. I wish I didn't fear longer texts as much as I do but I really enjoyed this one ;-)
And I want some Pecans now...
Oh, btw - Snow White and the Huntsman is not exactly a Disney classic... It's a Kristen Stewart movie which is probably the biggest reason to avoid it altogether. But I don't mind the make up. If it makes you happy - it's good ;-)

  3. I think a lot of us have done that thing with the nuts, for me it's always the cashews!! I'm really interested in trying that milani lippie now. I got samples of a YSL liquid lipstick/gloss/lip stain and fell in love, then I looked at the price......eeekk. This looks like it might be similar, although I'll likely end up buying the YSL at some point too.
