China Glaze Stone Cold - Swatches and Review

Yesterday I showed you Agro from China Glaze's Capitol Colors Collection for Spring 2012. Today I have Stone Cold from the same collection.

This one was inspired by District in the nation of Panem - the masonry district. If this is you right now:

...then you obviously haven't read The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. You really REALLY need to read them. They're VERY fast reads and the movie will be out soon, so as Nike would say, Just Do It!

This one was a surprise because it's matte!  Well I wasn't really surprised because I'd already been to some of my favorite bloggers looking for swatches, so I knew it, but I don't think it was mentioned in any of the pre-release PR.  I am surprised that I love it though! Just describing a charcoal grey dull matte finish polish, it doesn't sound very nice, but photos prove otherwise!

Here I am showing it with ONE COAT and no top coat:

And you KNOW I had to see what it looked like with a top coat...so I put a Poshe top coat on two nails to show the contrast.

It's really lovely either way, but that top coat really brings out the hidden inner beauty, IMO. This is probably as close to wearing "black" that I will ever get.

What do you think? Do you like mattes?

If you enjoyed this post, please take a second to "like" it! Thanks!

  1. That looks really good on you! Looks like application was really good for a matte!

    1. Application was a cream - nothing like a "typical" matte! It does dry REALLY fast like a matte though, but since it only takes one coat, no chance of issues with going over and over it.

  10. I like it a lot! Reminds me of a blackboard in a way. I only have one matte polish, and I always put a shiny top coat over it, so I guess I'm not into mattes on myself. But this looks great on your nails!

  11. Actually, this polish represents District 2 (Masonry) not 12.
