Illamasqua Purity - Swatches and Review

Today I'm wearing Illamasqua Purity, part of the Toxic Nature Collection 2011, is a milky peach creme. It's not really what I'd call a pastel though. It's very pigmented.

This is only my second Illamasqua, the first being Faux Pas. I found the application to be fine with Faux Pas - no issues. This one is a bit trickier. It's quite a bit gloppier than I'm used to and as you will see in the photos, I had a few application issues. A bump, a ridge and the cuticle lines look messy. Nothing that practice with this particular formula would fix probably, but with so many polishes out there with consistently great application, I'll probably not wear this one much. Well, that, plus it gives me "dirty hands." You know that look - the color just makes your hands look dirty? Anyway, I think if you used a very thin coat first and possibly another 2 thin coats, you'd be fine. I used one thin coat and one medium/thick coat.

I was playin' around with the dogs and it *almost* glows in the dark!  Not really, but it's so highly pigmented, you can still see it in partial darkness.

Illamasqua polishes are available at Sephora in the US for $14 and Illamasqua.com in the UK - bottles are .5 ounces and have a removable outer square cap.

  2. I had the same kind of experience with my manicure tonight. Gloppy, thick, messy. Needless to say mine was Sinful Colors so I'll only be out $2.00. I agree with you. There are far more excellent polishes out there to settle for any that aren't up to par.

  4. Not a color I would wear. I'm more sparkle, vampy, gem, bright colors and even pastels. But I have liked any of the nude type colors and this sort of to me falls close to that
