On Trend for Autumn: My Top Nail Polish Picks for Fall 2014

Nothing to Disclose

It's almost September and while we don't really have a "real Autumn" here where I live, I still look forward to the shades of the season.

For fashion I'm seeing lots of the patterns I love and I can't wait to see how they'll be translated from the runway this year to real life. But below are the shades I think will be HOT for Fall this year - for nails anyway. I see nail art continuing to grow in popularity as well, but for now, we'll just tackle the shades of the season...through my eyes.

Contnued after the jump...

I see a whole range of greys. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Face it, gorgeous greys are always going to be on-trend. I'm also seeing browns in all of their various shades and finishes along with, believe it or not, purples! From true purple to dusty to muted to violet orchid shades. They're all going to be a hit on your nails this season.

And of course reds and berries are always a great choice. As Fall approaches, I'm seeing my tastes lean more to the richer, deeper shades of both red and berry.

But don't discount brights. Typically brighter shades are reserved for Spring and Summer months but I think this year brights are still on the menu. Things are a'changin'! Heck I remember when wearing white after Labor Day was taboo and just look at us now! Same with brights. Though I wouldn't say neons and pastels are going to be a real Fall trend anytime soon.

Blacks. Well, truthfully I'm not seeing just plain goth black nails, but I think blacks with a twist will be popular - flecked, glittered, holo'd up and trotted out for those "statement nails."

There's another thing I think the "powers that be" will try to make work - metals. Golds, silvers and bronzes. I'm not sure how successful this will be, except maybe just incorporated into nail art. If others are like me, I think we're sort of over metals. STOP TRYING TO MAKE "METALS" HAPPEN! Whether I'm right on this one I don't know. Only time will tell.

So I've picked some of my personal favorites that I'll be wearing this Fall to stay on trend and pulled swatches of them from my blog. And I'd love to hear what YOU will be wearing!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First my personal favorites that don't seem to fit into a specific color-category because they're so complex...

a England Sleeping Palace. You KNEW that was going to be first. And while it's my personal favorite, I do see this as being a trend shade this Fall. It goes with everything and every skin tone!

Philly Loves Lacquer 2AM Coffee - it's another of those shades that will go with most anything.

And Darling Diva B!tchcraft. Holo goodness. Is it brown? Grey?

  1. It stays quite warm in fall where I live so I tend to miss a lot of fall everything - always seems I barely get a taste of fall shades for fashion and pouf it's on to Dec holiday colors and bling. Far as the gray category -know it's popular but grays never look good on my hands tho I wear a lot of black/gray in fabrics/wardrobe - I find for my oddball climate in fall to early winter, reds always work - they bridge well from the bright summer shades into an acceptable fall shade. I grew up in the 40s when colors for seasons were very much the rule - now days, very few to no rules - tho I still would feel funny wearing a bright pink on my toes in Jan!

  4. Do you think EP Toubkal is very similar to Zoya India? I'd love to see a comp of those two!

    1. Well they're in the same color family for sure but Toubkal has a more squishy jelly look and totally different shimmers and slightly bigger micro-flakes. And it's slightly cheaper. I can't compare th em right now but if you'll remind me on my FB page I can next week. ♥
