butter LONDON Bespoke Gwyneth Paltrow Trio

Good Morning! Today I have the Limited Edition butter LONDON Bespoke trio of lacquers created for Gwyneth Paltrow, founder of goop.com. Abso-bloody-lutely, Hampstead Heath and Bread and Butter Pudding.

From the time I ordered until I finally received them, it was exactly a month. If fast shipping is important to you, you'll be disappointed. It was well packaged though.

First up, my favorite of the three, Hampstead Heath (not to be confused with Nails Inc. Hampstead Heath!) - it's a deep mossy/forest green with gold foil-like shimmer and FLAKES! Yes, I'm such a sucker for flakes. These appear to be translucent flakes and really give it something special, in my opinion. Application was smooth and easy and I only needed two coats for full opacity. Shown in photos with no top coat.

Abso-bloody-lutely (isn't that a fantastic name?!) is a deep red crelly (creme/jelly hybrid) that I think can be worn by both warm and cool skin tones - it leans warm. This one is really pretty but as good (usually) as I am at application, I just really haven't quite made friends with crellies or jellies yet. This one is smooth and fairly easy but you can see in the cuticle area of the photos that I have trouble getting the coats even there. Same with almost all jellies or crellies for me. I must have a mental block! They claim opacity in two coats and that's mostly true - it was opaque, but to even it out I used a light third coat. The photos are with no top coat so you can see how super shiny it is. As far as crellies go, I'd say this was as good as any of them if not slightly better.

Lastly, Bread and Butter Pudding. I'm opting not to show you what this one looks like on me. It's SUPER sheer. Actually, if you've ever tried butter LONDON's base coat, this is MORE sheer than the base coat. I can't even guess how many coats you'd need for even semi-opacity and I'm not entirely sure it's possible with this one. And that looks great on some people. Very sophisticated on well-manicured white nails. My nails are not white. I don't think they were white when I was born.

So...here's a bottle shot for you. You can see one of the mixing balls in the bottom corner to see how sheer it is. Seriously, the base coat is about twice as opaque.

So what do you think of these? Worth the one month wait? Well, for me, just for Hampstead Heath alone, yes. That one is truly a stand-out!

These are available at goop.com here and retail for $36.00 and the shipping is free.

  1. These are the first detailed swatches I've seen of this trio (well, duo in your case lol). I ordered them anyway, but I'm glad I get to see what they look like before they get here.

  2. Although they look amazing on you, I have a feeling I am going to skip those :-(
I totally hate that last one and I am not that excited about green or flakes or both. So I feel that $36 is just a little too high for a red crelly...

  4. Thank you for the gorgeous swatches as usual! Hampstead Heath looks right up your alley, and I almost want the collection just for that gorgeous green. The red isn't all that unique, and sheers aren't my thing either.

  5. Well, Hampstead Heath is quite nice, but I'd still choose Chirality Kale over it - not quite the same, but in my opinion, much better :) - Which is good because (a) this Butter London set are sold out already, and (b) for some reason, Gwyneth and her stuff sets my teeth on edge. ugh.

    1. You could try SpaRitual Optical Illusion - lol, another name-dupe polish! - that I saw swatched on Vique's Varnish. It too is probably not quite the same, but very nice and closer to Butter London HH than Kale which is a holo.

I like this Butter London one, I am not sure whether I love or hate the translucent flakes.

    2. I agree, Optical Illusion isn't the same at all but it's closer than Kale. Here are my swatches of that one: http://www.pointlesscafe.com/2012/01/sparitual-optical-illusion-swatches-and.html
