Fanchromatic Nails The Iron Price - Swatches and Review

Happy Saturday! Today I'm excited to show you a fairly new indie polish, new to me anyway...Fanchromatic Nails!

Fanchromatic Nails The Iron Price

I asked the woman behind Fanchromatic, Lynae, to tell me a little about Fanchromatic Nails...

Fanchromatic Nails was born in late 2011, when I started thinking about translating my obsession with different fandoms (especially costumes and set design) into cosmetics. I chose to focus on nail polish because I'm very interested in combining art + science, and it seemed like a perfect fit. My goal is to make polishes that really capture the spirit of the media that inspired them, while still being totally fun and unique in their own right.

I test all my nail lacquers for a minimum of 1 month before releasing them, and my glitters are generally tested for 2+ months. I use stainless steel mixing balls, brand-new bottles, and a 3-free suspension base that's been thoroughly tested as well.

Today I have The Iron Price to show you. The Iron Price is inspired by The Game of Thrones and is an orange-red jelly glitter polish. It's filled with several shades of silver hex glitter, black glass flecks, red squares and short bars and silver shredded glitter. I really have a love/hate relationship with bar glitter but the ones in this are short and I love them! I still get to see the bar glitters without having an application problem! This polish went on well. I layered it over a similar colored base on my ring finger and used two coats. All the rest are two coats alone (no underwear) and I honestly prefer this one alone! For a serial layerer like me, that's pretty great. The glitter pieces were well suspended and I had no issues. All the glitter pieces layed perfectly flat and I used one coat of Gelous to make it perfectly smooth to the touch. I've included photos with and without top coat so you can get a good idea of texture.

  5. I am so picky about Indie polishes (though I LOVE to support them!), but I absolutely love this! I'm a huge fan of the book series and TV series, so I checked out her shop and ended up purchasing the "Pick Three Minis" and got 3 Game of Thrones minis! I am so excited, thanks for showing me this awesome Indie!
