BB Couture Six Shades of Grey Collection - Swatches and Review

Today I have a collection for you that's right up MY alley...even though none of them are straight cremes! BB Couture Six Shades of Grey Collection. This was recently released - July, 2012 and I'm sure you can guess the now famous (or infamous) book it's sort of a tongue-in-cheek nod to. I'm more into Dean Koontz myself.

These are all varying shades of grey but each one has a little something special to set it apart. I found these all to be very easy to wear and they are great neutrals for Fall. The formula was great on all of them and I used 2 coats of each one and no top coat in any of the photos. There are two that require a top coat in my opinion and I'll point those out as we go.

As mentioned before, an informal poll showed the overwhelming majority of you said the more photos, the better so settle in...

Starry Starry Taupe is a mushroom brown with grey undertones and silvery holo microglitter/flake.

Smoke is a light-to-medium grey creme with darker blue-grey particles - not sure how to describe it. This is one of the most unique polishes in my collection. It really looks like the texture of concrete!

Shaded Ash is a cool-toned grey-green with a silver shimmer and high shine.

Puce is a great brown with purple and grey undertones and a holo microglitter and what looks to me to be silver mini flakes and shimmer. The best word I have to describe this one is WOW. The name threw me though! I thought puce was a weird yellow-green but google says it can also be a purple-brown. I think this one can be worn by both cool-toned skin and warm-toned skin.

Grey Matter is a shimmery silver with light army green undertones. This is one of the ones that will require a top coat as the silver/holo microglitter pieces tend to collect on top of the polish. I used two coats but after seeing the closer photos I'll probably use three next time I wear it. For most, two coats would probably be enough but my nails are hard and stained and a bit more difficult to cover.

Briquette is a medium to dark grey with strong olive undertones and silver microglitter/flake particles. This is the other one that will need a top coat as some of the glitter/flake pieces tend to float on the top of the polish.

So what do you think of this collection? Which is your favorite? Hands down, my favorite is Puce. I fell in love with it immediately. Smoke and Starry Starry Taupe are tied for 2nd favorite. My least favorite was Grey Matter only because I don't think the color was flattering on my skin. I think if you have any sort of tan at all it would be stunning too though.

BB Couture polishes can be purchased at Overall Beauty and retail for between $9 and $11 for full 15ml bottles. Also follow Overall Beauty on Facebook to stay up-to-date on availability, new collections, etc. You can also visit BB Couture online here and follow them on Facebook!
