Today I have a different sort of post for you. A top coat review! A while back I was sent a bottle of Glisten & Glow's H K Girl Top Coat by Jindie Nails when I reviewed her Holiday/Winter 2013 Collection. I did a Three-Part post of that collection and I used H K Girl Top Coat on all the polishes (where I used top coat at all).

I was going to do the review of the top coat then. But I decided against it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty particular about my top coats and sometimes issues arise with them that I don't notice immediately. What if it's no good and based on using it on one collection, I recommend it and then it's not great? While I'd love it if I could only give positive reviews, some products don't deserve a positive review. So I decided to wear test it. Use it over different finishes, for nail art, etc.

Well the results are in!

I love it.

It IS, in fact, fast-drying as it claims. It IS, in fact, super shiny as it claims. It's smooth and easy and not too thick. It doesn't get cloudy or stringy. For really chunky glitter polishes, I'd still probably lay down a coat of Gelous or Poshe first, but then I'd top it off with H K Girl. You'd be surprised at how high up on my list the "not stringy" part is to me.

But I haven't told you the best part yet! NAIL ART! Any of you who do any sort of nail art have had something you worked hard on smeared/ruined by top coat - even if you wait hours. I know I have. I used the H K Girl top coat on my Christmas Argyle Nails like 5 minutes after I was done and NO smearing!

Here's a quick smear test I did for you this morning...

I waited about 7 minutes after I did the dots.

This one gets two shiny thumbs up from me.

Another week! I've been very busy with my house the last few days - my closets, specifically. Every Autumn I get the Spring Cleaning Fever bug. Yep, just about everything about me is backwards LOL! Tonight I'm starting the first in a series of reviews on a new-to-me indie: Ruby White Tips!

To start things off, I'll be showing you a very sparkly, holo-y top coat called Kick A$$ Top Coat! (Yes I've replaced the Ss with $s because of search engines tagging my posts as not safe for kids or worse because sometimes there are "neutral" polishes that get described as n- u- d- e, etc.  And we all know I'm totally kid-safe!)

Ruby White Tips polishes are all at least 3-free and most are 5-free, and vegan. They test their polishes for several months before releasing. Stay with me until the end of the post for a 20% off code!

Kick A$$ Top Coat is a clear-based micro-glitter topper that is way too sparkly and holo for my camera to capture well. And the close up photos make the teensy micro-glitters look larger than they are. Apologies in advance. I layered one coat over Nails Inc. Dutchess Street, a deep blurple, and had no issues at all with application or formula. Since putting it on my fingers, I've added it to my current pedicure too! I want to put it over everything!

I'm not sure how most of you feel about bats, but I've always held a special place in my heart for them. I actually have a bat house in my back yard. Not only does it stave off mosquitoes, the bat guano is great for plants! Before I started using this on my plants, I killed everything. And mosquitoes smell the bats and/or bat guano and hightail it somewhere else!

Today I have one of the 3 new holographic, color-shifting top coats from Darling Diva to show you.  There are 3: Cray Cray, Polish Junkie and Seduction. I recently showed you Cray Cray and soon I'll have Polish Junkie but for now I have Seduction.

Seduction is described by the maker as "a clear topcoat that produces a linear holo. Added to the craziness is color shifting pigment that shifts from pink to gold to pale green. My holo topcoat is different from the rest because I use 5 different holographic mediums. "

I used one coat of this over black and no top coat - photos show this in natural and artificial lighting. No issues at all with formula or application.

Happy Monday!

Today I have Ozotic 906 from the Beam range of polishes.

Ozotic 906 is a multi-colored, color-shifting glass fleck top coat with mostly pink and blue shining through. This went on smoothly and perfectly and I layered one coat over a few different colors for you - no top coat. No issues to report at all.

Maya Cosmetics - Tranquillis and Glacies

I thought this Monday would NEVER end! But it has and I have two beauties to show you from a new-to-me indie called Maya Cosmetics. Tranquillis and Glacies. I just got them today and it was the best thing I can say about today so I couldn't wait to show you.

First I am going to apologize for the band-aid (or "plaster" for my UK friends. LOL!) I've tried to minimize its appearance in the photos, but as I said - it's been SUCH a Monday.

Tranquillis really blew me away. It's a gorgeous deep blackened teal that leans more blue in the bottle and more green on the nail. It's packed with (what looks to ME to be) green and gold shimmer and green, gold, copper and blue irregular micro-flakes. I used two coats for full opacity. Formula was smooth and creamy. No issues at all. The first set of photos is with no top coat and the second set is with top coat.

Glacies is a limited edition shimmery sheer blue topper that has a slight color shift from blue to turquoise to purple. The close up photo shows this best. It also has micro-flakes, which I am such a sucker for! I've layered one coat over a plain black creme and you can see how it comes alive! Perfect formula, no issues. No top coat for any of the photos.
