butter LONDON Petrol - Swatches and Review

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Well, the collection I'm working on for you is delayed a bit but I have a pretty cool one from butter LONDON for you tonight - Petrol. I can't remember if I picked this one up at Dillard's or if I ordered through butter LONDON when they had a sale on. But clearly I swatched it when my nails were shorter, which makes this one another from the vault!

Petrol is described as an "opalescent sheen of oil reflected in rain" and it really does remind me of an oil slick!  This one is a sort of blue to purple duo-chrome that can be worn alone or as a topper. I've used 3 coats of this one alone - as sheer as it looked going on with the first coat, I was pretty sure it would take 4 or 5 coats but it didn't! At the end, I've layered it over black on my accent nail. I actually liked it both ways. The formula is fairly thin, as is the nature of this type of polish, but not troublesome and about what you'd expect in a topper. I didn't have any issues with flooding my cuticles though. Three coats and no top coat.

Dior Porcelaine 204 and Pampille 192 - from the Dior Trianon Collection for Spring 2014

Nothing to Disclose
*These products may NOT be Cruelty Free

Dior Trianon Collection for Spring 2014
Porcelaine 204 and Pampille 192

Porcelaine 204 is a bright, creamy pastel blue with a creamy, self-leveling formula. Seriously, all of you pastel lovers know how hard it is to find any pastels that aren't a bit too thick or ones that are self-leveling. This formula is great! Two to three coats and no top coat for the photos. (I used 3 light coats for the full swatches and 2 coats on the comparison photos with Pampille.)

Pampille 192 is a sheer shimmer that looks mint in the bottle but has very little color on the nail. The blue shimmer really gives is a blue tint when worn alone but over Porcelaine, it does give a greenish tint that you can see when they're next to each other. The formula is good though and easy to work with. I'll be showing you this one alone in one, two and three coats and over Porcelaine as a topper.

Cover Band CaNDy Teal Twinkle

Tonight I have a brand new Cover Band polish to show you - CaNDy Teal Twinkle. As you may know, "cover bands" choose to "cover" the material of already established "bands." The last time I tried out a Cover Band polish was Sticks and Stones, a nod to Lynnderella Connect the Dots. This one is called CaNDy Teal Twinkle - see what they did there? <grin>

I layered one coat of CaNDy Teal Twinkle over a plain black creme and a plain teal creme. No issues at all with application or formula.

First over black...

And over teal creme...

What do you think of this one? I'm loving the micro-flakes and how it so quickly and easily transforms a plain creme into a WOW look.

Cover Band polishes are sold exclusively through Ninja Polish. Currently the release date for these is still in the works so I'll just say COMING SOON. Make sure to like Ninja Polish on Facebook for updates, swatches and restock information.

Note: Cover Band is their own brand separate from Ninja Polish, however, Ninja Polish supplies them with their bottles.

I also have one more new Cover Band creation to share with you soon so stay tuned over the next couple of days!

SoFlaJo Call Forth Dragons - Swatches and Review

I placed my first order from SoFlaJo Hand Poured Originals the other day and received it quickly and well packaged. Inside my order was a mini bottle of Manhattan (Thanks Jody!) and it was "SO ME" that I just had to try that one out first! See my post on that here. The one I actually ordered is Call Forth Dragons, a shimmery topper and I'll be showing you that beauty this evening.

SoFlaJo Call Forth Dragons

SoFlaJo Call Forth Dragons is a color-shifting topper with holographic micro-glitter and a pigment that causes it to shift from silver to lavender/purple to green/blue to gold, depending on how the light plays off of it. It's one of those difficult-to-describe polishes so I will let the photos do the talking. Be warned, there are a LOT of photos to show you what it looks like in various lighting.  Shown here with one coat over a plain black creme polish base. I haven't tried it over anything else. Yet. But I can only imagine that the possibilities are endless.

Isn't she GORGEOUS!!!!!!!?????

SoFlaJo polishes are 4-Free (free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and Dibutyl Phthalate and Formaldehyde Resin) and CRUELTY-FREE, which as you know is a big one for me. This one, as well as linear holo toppers, glitter polishes and other opaque colors are available in Jody's Etsy shop and retail for $10.00 for the full-sized bottles. Also be sure and "like" her Facebook page for updates!

Do you have any SoFlaJo polishes yet? What's your favorite?

Koh Colours! Easy Going Purple - Swatches and Review

Today I'll be showing you Koh Colours! Easy Going Purple. Only my second of hopefully MANY more Kohs to come. Of course my first two had to be green and purple.  The green is Koh Colours! Rain Forest and I'll show you that one soon. According to Koh Colours! all of their polishes are infused with topaz to give them a hard and lasting finish. Koh is a Dutch cosmetics company.

But now... Koh Colours! Easy Going Purple

Koh Colours! Easy Going Purple

Koh Colours! Easy Going Purple is a red-based purple creme. It applied easily and was opaque in two coats. No issues to report. The brush is small and round but splays well. The polish is heavily pigmented and on the thicker side as polishes go so one coat would be sufficient for opacity, but I prefer one thin coat and a second medium coat just out of habit. It dried quickly and with a gloss finish. At the end, I've included some photos with toppers!

These polishes are a bit harder to come by for those of us in the States, but they can be ordered directly from the Koh Colours! website if you fancy a bit of a challenge. It's certainly doable. The shipping can be a killer though. Thankfully these were obtained via a swap with a sweetheart of a nail polish addict in Europe. They retail from €14,95 to €19,95.

Have you tried Koh yet? what do you think of it?
