Wearing Purple for Lupus Awareness Day: Nfu Oh JellySyrup27

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

Today is Lupus Awareness Day (May is Lupus Awareness Month, actually) and several bloggers have joined to wear purple manicures today.

Lupus is an incurable autoimmune disease that affects 1.5 million Americans. 9/10 are women. Lupus affects 5 million people world wide.

A common misconception is that most people with lupus aren't sick because they don't look sick they aren't sick. This misconception goes for all invisible illnesses.

Here is a great link for more information on Lupus.

So today, I'm wearing Nfu-Oh JS 27 (the JS stands for Jelly Syrup) which is a true jelly polish in a red-violet purple that is so gorgeous my photos can't do it justice. The formula is a jelly formula of course, but I only needed 3 easy coats and no top coat. No issues to report at all.

piCture pOlish FOCUS by Pointless Cafe

UPDATE: piCture pOlish FOCUS has joined the
piCture pOlish collection full time!

Remember I told you I had something extra special coming up to show you later this month? Well, IT'S HERE!!!!!! Not only am I excited to introduce to you piCture pOlish FOCUS by Pointless Cafe, if you hang around to the end of the post I have a GIVEAWAY, too, thanks to the lovely Kim at Overall Beauty!

Back at the end of July I was thrilled to be one of the many bloggers worldwide to participate in piCture pOlish's Blogfest 2012. Little did I know then that it would lead to a polish with MY name on it! Turns out that piCture pOlish poured over those blog posts and chose a few bloggers worldwide to create and name their own shade and I was one of the lucky few!

This polish was initially named Perspective but it was too long for the bottle so I changed it to Focus. The color inspiration photos I sent them were of wild wine cups growing in my back yard. I told them I wanted this color - between a violet and a red-violet on the color wheel - in a crelly formula with micro-flakes and maybe some blue shimmer.

piCture pOlish Focus - Color Inspiration

And Focus was born! It's not the exact color I was thinking, but it's gorgeous nonetheless! It's actually a great red-violet positively LOADED with micro-flakes! It's not a jelly but it is a crelly and was opaque on short nails in two coats and on my longer nails I needed the third coat. The depth of color built up great and I was really happy with the formula! One coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

This shade is a LIMITED EDITION, however, if we all love it, the girls at piCture pOlish may keep it in their line-up so please show it some love!

Jindie Nails Choose Me - Swatches and Review

Happy Wednesday! This morning I have one of my favorite polishes from Jindie Nails to show you : Choose Me!

Choose Me is my favorite nail polish color so naturally I adore this one. It's a gorgeous red violet/berry shimmer with scattered holographic particles. Application and formula were perfect and this one cost me an entire day of swatching because I started with this one and then just couldn't take it off. It is a jelly-ish formula and I used three easy coats for full coverage. I've included photos with and without top coat (one coat of Poshe) as indicated in the photo captions.

Nina Ultra Pro Punki Purple - Swatches and Review

Good morning! Today I have a bright polish for you - to brighten up the dreariness outside.

I hadn't purchased any of the Nina Ultra Pro line lately and while I was picking up a fresh bottle of Gelous at Sally, this color just called to me. It reminded me of Sinful Colors Dream On. They have new bottles, too, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Punki Purple is a bright neon fuchsia/red-violet polish. It dries to a semi-matte finish like most neons. Formula was actually a bit better than Sinful Colors Dream On, which is a plus. HOWEVER, and that's a big however, the brushes are awful. I'll show you those in a bit. Of course, it's still, like the other fuchsia/red-violet polishes I have, nearly impossible for me to photograph accurately.

First, the normal finish without top coat...

With one coat of Poshe top coat...

And the brush. Ugh. It's sort of flat - meant to be flat anyway. And very wide. VERY. Wider than most of my nails. I like wide - like the wide Dior brush. Plus it's not cut well at all and I don't know how it splays because I think the splayed width would be around a half to 3/4ths of an inch and my big toe is barely that wide. I've taken a few shots of the Nina Ultra Pro brush compared to the Dior brush...

Plus there were random uneven "hairs" that made me stabby.

So, color? A+. Formula? B+. Brush? D-.  Nina, Y U mess up da brushes?

Nina Ultra Pro polishes are available at Sally Beauty Supply and retail for $3.99 each for 15 ml bottles.
