Darling Diva Polish
Hug My Face Collection (aka The Alien Collection)

Hi everyone! I'm a little late with this collection - still playing "catch-up" with everything. But holy COW you guys! I think she named one of these incorrectly - even if my name doesn't fit with the theme, with is the movie Alien. I think it should be called "Drops Mic, Walks Away" - see if you can guess which one!

There are nine of these so I have a ton of photos. Drag up a chair.

Full swatches and review after the jump...

For this mani, I used a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff - the rest is freehanded with acrylic paint.

I was watching Doctor Who Family of Blood/Human Nature and the scarecrows just inspired me!

Indie Inlinkz: Favorite Fall Color

***

Indie Inlinkz
Favorite Fall Color

Hi all! Once a month several bloggers get together to show our support for indie polish makers, discuss our favorite colors, basically all topics. And at the bottom, you will see a link-up where you can click on all the participating bloggers' posts. Today we have for you our Favorite Fall Color.

As usual, I never have a definitive answer about anything aesthetic. If you tell me "pick one" I will have a reason to choose at least 2 and sometimes more.

Mostly, I'd say my favorite colors for Fall are browns. So I've done this "amended" freehand argyle for you.

Of course I applied a matte top coat. I rarely do that with plain polish, but I gravitate toward it for nail art and unless it's the glare when photographing it or it covers little mistakes, I have no idea why.

Here it is shiny...

But I suppose if you were asking about my favorite indie polish for Fall? It would probably be Elevation Polish The Arches 2. It's not red, it's not orange, it's not brown. It's just...well, FALL!

What is YOUR favorite shade for Fall?

Be sure and check the links below!

HPB Presents: Autumnal Leaves - Fall Nail Art

***

Happy Monday everyone! This week the members of Hobby Polish Bloggers will be presenting an Autumn-themed mani for you and mine is freehand leaves and an acorn.

I put down a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff (purchased by me) and used acrylic paints to do a conglomeration of random leaves with an acorn.

With a shiny top coat before the acorn...

With Girly Bits matte top coat (purchased by me)...

And finally with the acorn...

The Digital Dozen Does Re-Creations: Mummies by Adventures in Acetone

***

The Digital Dozen Does Re-Creations:
Jacki's Mummies

Today is the final day of the Digit-al Dozen Re-Creations Week and since Halloween is quickly approaching, I decided to do Adventures in Acetone's Mummies!

These are such cute mummies! I smeared the pinkie with top coat because I'm impatient. I also did the fan brush like Jacki did but you can't even SEE IT! Guess I used the wrong color and my hand was too light. But they're still cute and super easy!

I used Salon Perfect Sugar Cube for the base and OPI My Vampire is Buff for the fan part that you can't see LOL - too light. The rest is acrylic paint (except the red eyes which are Faby Red.)

And here's the side-by-side...

Please check out the links below for other great re-creation looks!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations: Wondrously Polished's Mayan Logogram Nail Art

***

The Digital Dozen Does Re-Creations
Mayan Logogram Nail Art by Wondrously Polished

Day 4 of the Digital Dozen Re-Creations Week has apparently made me lose my everlovin' mind. Why I thought I could even attempt this one is beyond me, but attempt it I did! Like I had no sense at all! This is one of my all-time favorite manis by Lindsey over at Wondrously Polished - Mayan Logogram Nail Art. And mine really looks nothing like hers! I tried my best and I even had more "nail real estate" and still overcrowded it. How DOES she do it?

But I wasn't about to start over so this is my version of Lindsey's Mayan Logograms.

I used OPI My Vampire is Buff for the base, black acrylic paint for the design and Zoya Matte Velvet Top Coat (all purchased by me) for this one.

And here is the side by side even though I really didn't want to see them together LOL! I even mixed up 2 of the nails. Oy.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations: Dressed Up Digits Toothpick Marble Decals

The Digit-al Dozen Does Re-Creations:
Dressed Up Digits Toothpick Marble Decals

For Digital Dozen Childhood Week a while back, Laurie over at Dressed Up Digits did a cool toothpick marble decal mani inspired by the bowling ball she had as a child. Lemme tell ya...it's harder to do decals than I thought! I probably could have done a much better job doing it on my nails, but I wanted to step outside my "lil box o' safety" and try it how she did it. Need. More. Practice.

I used Nails Inc. Dutchess street (dark purple purchased by me), Zoya Leslie (lighter purple sent for review) and Salon Perfect Sugar Cube (purchased by me). I used a toothpick and my ÃœberMat.

You can see here how stunning hers is!

Be sure to check out the other great manis from the DD gang below!

Comparison Request: KBShimmer vs Essie Starry Starry Night

Press Sample and Purchased by Me

Today I have a quick swatch wheel comparison for you, by request, of KBShimmer Carpe Denim and the elusive Essie Starry Starry Night. (Click the links for my original posts on both of these.)

So let's have a look!

As you can see, these are not MY strict definition of "dupes." But your definition of dupe may vary. If "close enough" is good, then you're golden! If you're looking for exact? This one isn't.

My thoughts:

*I prefer the micro glitters in Essie Starry Starry Night over the larger, holo ones in the KBS.
*I prefer the formula and application of KBShimmer Carpe Denim
*I prefer the cruelty-free aspect of KBShimmer Carpe Denim
*I prefer the availability of KBShimmer Carpe Denim
*I prefer the price of KBShimmer Carpe Denim

So for me, this round of "VS" goes to KBShimmer with a 4-1 win.

What do you think?

You can purchase KBShimmer polishes on their site here, at Harlow & Company and on Amazon.
Other KBShimmer sites:

You can, if you're lucky enough to run across it, purchase the long discontinued Essie Starry Starry Night on eBay for a few hundred dollars.

24 Nail Art Ideas for Halloween

24 Nail Art Ideas for Halloween

I thought I'd put together the nail art looks I've done for Halloween in the past for easy reference since the big day is rapidly approaching! My leaves are already falling and the chill is in the air at night. I'm dreaming of hauntings and ghostly figures. Pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. This is my first year back home in Indiana and I live on a city block instead of in the country so I will have trick-or-treaters and I'm excited!

And of course I'm excited to binge-watch Hocus Pocus. Amok amok amok!!!

I'm chomping at the bit to get started on some new looks for Halloween so I bet you guys are too!

If you see anything you want to read about, just head over to my Pinterest Halloween Nail Art Board, find the one you like and click it to go right to the blog post!

And check it out on Buzzfeed!

This next trio was an Extend-a-Mani I just kept adding to each day.

What do you think? Some are super easy and some are moderate but none were really hard. Some of the easiest and fastest were my favorites!

If you do any halloween nail art this year, please feel free to share it on my Pointless Cafe Facebook page!

Happy Halloween!
