The Digit-al Dozen: Countries and Cultures - Bonnie Scotland

Nothing to Disclose

Scotland, Bonnie Scotland

Nail Art

Well you know my first mani for Countries and Cultures had to be Scotland, right!?  My ancestry is Scottish. My heart is in Scotland. I want to move there so badly it hurts sometimes. Every chance I get for a vacation, that's where I choose to go.

Tartan, the Saltire, a castle and the gorgeous red violet shade of the national flower, the Scottish Thistle.

My heritage is mixed Irish and Scottish but I thought that I was more Irish. Until my first visit. I loved Ireland, but when I stepped off the plane in Scotland, I just felt in my soul that I was "home." And for the first time in my life I blended in. I saw people my size. With my coloring. With my hair. It even smelled like home. And it's the same every time I go back.

I took a *gasp* SELFIE! Don't I look Scottish? The bright orange red hair has faded with age but my love of Scotland hasn't.

This is me at the castle I attempted on my nails...Eilean Donan Castle. From a different angle of course.

And the same angle of the castle as is on my nails but with the bridge cut off. Very cloudy and rainy that evening...

I used KBShimmer Sky Jinks, Nails Inc. Southwark, Illamasqua Rampage, Jindie Nails Electric Grape and the black and whites are my old stand-bys: Wet n Wild WildShine Black Creme and Salon Perfect Sugar Cube.

And of course that's the coffee cup I use nearly every morning. The good ol' Scottish Saltire.

Be sure and stay with us the whole week for more Countries and Cultures manis! And check out the links below to see the other beautiful creations from the rest of the Digital Dozen!

  11. Your Best of 2014 post led me here, I don't know how I missed this mani! It is SO beautiful! And I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you were "home." I'm also Scotch-Irish, although admittedly not much, but when I went there in 2009 I felt so at ease, like I was returning to a place I had known my whole life, even though I'd never been there before. When our plane left to come home I cried so hard, but I know I'll return someday! Alba gu bràth! <3
