Comparison Request: HITS Atena vs OPI DS Exclusive

Press Sample/Personal Collection
*One polish is Cruelty Free, one is not Cruelty Free

Before I could even post about HITS No Olimpo Atena (sent for review) I had a request to compare it to OPI DS Exclusive (Personal Collection) so here it is!

HITS No Olimpo Atena

First, this is the new formulation of HITS Atena - two coats for opacity and no top coat for the photos. No issues at all with formula or application. It's a holographic deep plum berry - pretty yummy!

Continued after the jump...

And here is OPI DS Exclusive...

So you can see why people are wondering!

And here's how Atena compares to OPI DS Exclusive...

What do you think? Close enough? Obviously they're not dupes - Atena is more plum, deeper, and Exclusive is more raspberry, a bit lighter.

OPI DS Exclusive is no longer being made and it's VHTF (very hard to find) and when you DO find it, it's pretty expensive. Also OPI isn't Cruelty Free. HITS polishes are available through Llarowe and are Cruelty Free. You can also follow Llarowe on Facebook for swatches, restock times and other information.

  2. They are both very pretty indeed but I do believe I have to go with HITS bc I just love that deep plum color. And it does work (at least for me) in any season. Hits No Olimpa Arena you will have a new home (well at least 1 bottle of it) in about 2 weeks as soon as I can order you darlin.

  3. I'd jump at the chance to own either one.

  4. ooooh, that's a couple of pretty polishes! They may not be dupes, but they're close enough for me not to want to pay lots of money for the OPI :) Thanks for a great comparison post! :)

  5. Oh I didn't realize these two are so much alike. I have Athene but haven't tried it yet. Now I'm curious!

  7. Wow now i'm even more happy with my Atena :)
I did'nt know that they look so similar.
Happily i must admit that, i like Arena more than the Opi one :)

  8. I have the old Atena formulation (love it already, although the colour is less saturated) and when I finish it, I will get the new one. I will certainly not struggle to get DS Exclusive if I already manage to put my hands on Atena rather easily!

  9. I like Atena more - I prefer the deeper richer hue.

  11. I have OPI DS Extravagance; I wonder how close it is to these two?

    1. While it's one of my favorites, it's not close - it's not the same finish at all and not the same type of holo.
