The Digit-al Dozen: New and Improved - Fishtail Braid

Nothing to Disclose

The Digital Dozen New and Improved
Fishtail Braid Accent

I've done a fishtail braids before here, here, here and here. I haven't loved any of them. So I thought I'd try to improve.

But I think it got worse! I said I'd show you successes AND fails so...

The redeeming thing about this manicure though is that I used stunning polishes. Spirit of the Moors, Let Me In and Cathy from a-England's Wuthering Heights Collection. (All purchased by me.) They really are amazing and Let Me In even made my Best 15 of 2015 End-of-Year post!

GOT Polish: Golden Oldie Thursday - Skittles Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

I have a serious problem in that I am always looking for that NEW polish fix when I have so many lovely polishes languishing in the drawer...polish I love enough to save them from purges or the donation box. And yet I don't wear them!

So when Debbie over at The Crumpet put together the GOT Polish Challenge, I was all for it! GOT stands for Golden Oldie Thursday - we pull out a polish that's a year old or older that we haven't worn either in a year or ever. This Thursday is SKITTLES! Truthfully, I've done a few Easter Skittles lately, so I decided to go a different direction this time. Embracing the challenge completely, I've used SEVEN polishes a year old or older and unused/untried.

I used Zoya Pinta on the thumb and pinky, Zoya Dove on the ring finger, Zoya Kieko on the middle finger and Dior Electric Blue on the index finger with variations of those colors for the dots and stripes.

And THEN I used Chanel Azur (I *think* that's older but it's definitely not been worn in a long time) over the index, Elevation Polish Marble Caves over the middle and ring fingers and Max Factor Fantasy Fire over the thumb and pinkie fingers.

Be sure and check out all the other great GOT Polish manicures in the links below!

Autumn Theme Week - Day 5 - Fall Skittles

Nothing to Disclose

Today's offering for the last day of Autumn Theme Week, a themed nail art week I'm participating in with some lovely blogger friends, is an autumnal skittles mani.

The easiest fall mani EVER is anything, topped with Nubar 2010. The color-shifting flakes in that one just scream fall to me.

It really pops over black.

For this one, I just did a skittles mani using (thumb to pinkie) Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy, Kleancolor Fashionista, Milani Dark Coffee, Wet n Wild Black Creme and Chanel Rouge Rubis.

Green Skittles!

Yes, I realize this isn't a true "skittles mani" but it's my green version.

L to R: OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window, Chanel Khaki Vert,
Revlon Moss and OCC Swamp Thing - natural lighting
Indoor artificial lighting
Have I mentioned I love the "ugly" greens? OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window had great application, Chanel Khaki Vert had the best, smoothest application, Revlon Moss had good application but dried a little wonky  and OCC (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics) had a decent formula, but the brush SUCKS.  As I also may have mentioned a time or five, I hate clean up and avoid it if at all possible. I didn't do any clean up here, but you can see that I had a really hard time with the OCC brush and couldn't get it straight.  I don't know if it's cut wrong or fans out too much or both.

And yes, I wore this out in public for TWO days. *grin*
