Autumn Theme Week - Day 5 - Fall Skittles

Nothing to Disclose

Today's offering for the last day of Autumn Theme Week, a themed nail art week I'm participating in with some lovely blogger friends, is an autumnal skittles mani.

The easiest fall mani EVER is anything, topped with Nubar 2010. The color-shifting flakes in that one just scream fall to me.

It really pops over black.

For this one, I just did a skittles mani using (thumb to pinkie) Pure Ice Drive Me Crazy, Kleancolor Fashionista, Milani Dark Coffee, Wet n Wild Black Creme and Chanel Rouge Rubis.

Check out the other great Autumn-themed manis in the links below!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

What is Thanksgiving Day here in the United States? Well, there are various stories and just as many meanings. Maybe you think of Pilgrims and Native Americans? Or a harvest celebration? Ye Olde English religious observations brought over to the "new world?" Or maybe it just means turkey and the age-old question "stuffing or dressing?" Black Thursday (formerly known as Black Friday)?

What I've always wanted it to mean, for me, is the Hallmark Thanksgiving you see on TV - families gathering together from all parts of the world to cook together in the kitchen, watch football, have family spats, eat too much turkey and then for it to be wrapped up in a nice Frank Capra-esque bow at the end of the day.

Yeah, that never really worked out for me.

What DOES work for me is spending time with the one I love, whether or not there's turkey, and just being thankful for all that I have. Just a FEW of the things I'm thankful for this year: my dogs who bring me so much love and joy, my man who I love with all my heart, my really true friends and plenty of the worldly things that don't really mean a lot until you don't have them. So many people aren't nearly as blessed and I hope for them all of the blessing I have and more.

Thanksgiving always reminds me of autumn, even though I don't really get to enjoy that where I live, so on my nails this Thanksgiving Day, I'm wearing autumn.

I hope your Thanksgiving Day (whichever way you celebrate and it on whatever day in your own way all over the world) is filled with blessings and an abundance of people and things for which to be thankful.

XOXO,
♥ Sheila

Autumn Manicure

Okay, so I've griped so much about not having Fall where I live that you're tired of hearing it.  I know, I know. But we DON'T!

That doesn't stop me from bringing a little Fall to my nails, though, does it? No it does not.

I've done this mani before but I loved it so much (and I'm feeling so deprived of Autumn right now) that I'm bringing it back!

L'Oreal's Owl's Night topped with Nubar 2010 flakies. If this doesn't scream FALL, I don't know what does.

L'Oreal Owl's Night Review and Swatches

I found the latest L'Oreal colors for Fall at my local grocery store, so of course most of them came home with me.

In my opinion, the most interesting is Owl's Night. Various lighting photos:

This is a slightly blackened brown with loads of gold shimmer, which can trick the eye into seeing a flash of murky army green and bronze in certain light.  It's really an interesting color.  It goes on very nicely - great application.  My only issue with this one is tip wear.  It doesn't score big in that category, but I think the color is worth it.

I applied it around 11 pm, slept, showered, had breakfast and already the tip wear was noticeable.  So I layered on a coat of Nubar 2010.

Hello Fall!!!
