Dior Lilac Colorvision #398

Tonight I have another new Dior to show you - Lilac Colorvision 398!

Now if you're as easily confused as I am, you're wondering where THIS came from! Well let's follow the trail...

From the sweet Peach over at à la peach we have this gorgeous photo of the Japan Spring 2013 Exclusives:  Rosalba 258 and FrouFrou 398 - check out her post on these two here.

And then we have the two Harrod's Exclusives: Diorling 258 and Windsor 807...

Diorling and Rosalba are the same. And somehow I didn't pick up either one. Guess a true pink doesn't float my boat.

And FrouFrou 398 is the same as the Sephora Exclusive Lilac Colorvision 398. I will have Windsor soon, I hope - it's winging its way to me now!

Are we confused yet? LOL! Well I've been told that Windsor 807 is the same as NY 57th #807.

Anyway, I have Dior Lilac Colorvision 398 to show you now. It's a true lilac creme. Perfect formula. Two easy coats for full opacity. No top coat for the photos. It reads warmer in most lighting and slightly cooler in the shade.

NOTD: Orly Petit Four with Girly Bits Heirloom

Good morning! I have a quick Nail of the Day for you this morning with Orly Petit Four and an accent of Girly Bits Heirloom.

Orly Petit Four is an older one from Orly's Sugar Coated Color Collection and is a dusty lilac-pink...almost a rose color but with a touch more purple. It's a great creme finish with a perfect two-coat formula. I used Girly Bits Heirloom over the accent nail and I think they go perfectly together! Girly Bits Heirloom is from the Season of Sparkle Collection and it's a clear-based glitter with various shapes and sizes of magenta, pink, rose gold and silver glitter pieces - it has a very Victorian heirloom feel!

Comparison Request: Nails Inc. Wardour Mews, Zoya Daul and Orly Oui

Sorry in advance for nail wheel swatches, but I'm wearing Ninja Polish Geeks right now (from their new Halloween Collection) and I didn't want to take it off!

BUT...I think these swatches will do the job.

I've swatched them over black and alone...first up over black. You can see that the concept is the same but while Zoya Daul and Orly Oui are near-dupes, Wardour Mews is more lilac or berry than purple and the shimmer is more copper than gold as compared to the other two.

Nails Inc. Wardour Mews - Swatches and Review

Good morning! It's SATURDAY! This morning I have another Nails Inc. polish to show you. Wardour Mews.


Wardour Mews is a purple/lilac foil with gold shimmer. It has that duochrome look to it and it does shift from purple to gold because of the great shimmer. Application was easy and I had no issues. Two coats for full opacity. Photos with no top coat.

What do you think of this one? I actually think I have a few that are close, but no real dupes.

Chanel Lilac Sky - Swatches and Review

Tonight I have an "oldie but a goodie" for you. Chanel Lilac Sky.  Lilac Sky came out as part of Chanel's The Color World Collection - Spring 2006. So it's about 6 years old and still just as lovely.

Chanel Lilac Sky is a cool-toned pinkish lilac with tons of silver shimmer. Pastels are so often warm-toned that they really don't work on me at all, but this one, with the cool blue undertones actually makes it quite wearable for me. Application was actually better and less sheer than I expected. Two coats for opacity and no formula issues to mention. Even though it's a bit frosty, it doesn't really show brush strokes, but if you'll be taking close-up photos, just make sure to do straight and even strokes. I noticed nothing until I saw my photos and there are a few very faint brush stroke marks that you couldn't really see at arms length.

And just in case you're into indie polishes, Lilac Sky makes a fantastic base for Lush Lacquer Chubby Checker!

This is no longer a part of Chanel's permanent line, but it's also not one of those hard-to-find polishes that go for major $$ on eBay. You can still find it on-line for a decent price if you look around a bit. Your local Chanel counter may even have it tucked away in the back. Never hurts to ask!

Lush Lacquer Chubby Checker - Swatches and Review

Today I'll be showing you Chubby Checker by Lush Lacquer. I ordered this a week or so ago, which was a little out of the norm for me since I don't usually go for light pastel colors because they tend to wash out my already-too-pale skin. But something about it just called to me. And I am so glad!

Lush Lacquer is an Etsy shop run by the mother/daughter team of Karin and Lexi who take great pride in creating their handmade polishes. I received my order quickly and packed well and they were a delight to deal with.

Lush Lacquer Chubby Checker is a pink/lilac base packed with varying sizes and shapes of black and white glitter pieces - hex, round, square and bar. There's also a great irridescent shimmer! It looks like it would be opaque in 2-3 coats but I layered one coat over Chanel Lilac Sky, which was a perfect match, and it came out great. I had no issues at all and didn't even feel the need to rearrange or place glitter pieces, which is a plus considering I can be a bit, um...retentive about glitters. I like sort of an "ordered" random.  LOL! I used one coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite to finish it off and make it smooth.
