Great Lakes Lacquer
The Friends Collection Part 1

Happy Monday everyone!

I am finally nearly back. I say nearly because I'm still sitting at the kitchen island trying to blog and take photos, which is not ideal LOL! Most of my stuff is still in boxes waiting on one thing or another to be completed. But I do think I've found a decent work-around for my tech issues, so I wanted to show you this collection before it's just completely out of stock.

This is the premier collection of a brand new-on-the-scene indie maker and I think she did an outstanding job with it. I'm guessing she did the whole "learning curve" behind the scenes and waited until she'd perfected her formulas and unique colors/finishes before she ever launched.

So meet me after the jump and we will take a look!

There are 5 polishes in this collection, all inspired by close friends of hers. I will provide her descriptions in italics with the photos and then give you my thoughts on each.

The Triathlon Trainer

The athletic. She’s as active as you can get and sometimes, it annoys the crap out of you. Why can’t I have that kind of energy or drive? Haha. This lady runs and walks and runs some more. But her favorite is swimming. Her love of water really is apparent. Her scuba dives are awesome. She’s even swum with a Whale Shark. I’m eating my own heart out thinking about it.

A deep blue leaning teal jelly jam packed with aqua, green, and gold shimmer with highlights of multichrome, color shifting flake. Usually needs three coats to cover visible nail line but may require more or less depending on your length. As usual, please allow adequate dry time between coats for best results.

I used two coats of this one with one coat of top coat. The formula was much creamier than I expected when I started applying and it went on more like a cream than a jelly. In fact, until I saw it in the sun, I didn't realize it was a jelly! In the shade, it seems more opaque. Both looks are a win. On my skin, this one appears teal in the shade and the blue side of the teal shows more in the direct sunlight. No issues to report.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Soul Sister

She’s the one that you call your wife. She gets you. She’s the yin to your yang, the reason to your crazy, the calm to your chaos. She makes life better by just being her and you miss her all the time when she isn’t around. Her kids are your kids and vice versa. Even if life has separated you for awhile, that relationship is there, always there. Being the rock to my wave, I hope you all have one of these too.

A red leaning salmon. Cuz it looks awesome on her. This is a bright and vivid red leaning salmon with a vibrant violet sheen and a bit of holographic goodness. Opaque in 2 coats. Please allow adequate dry time between coasts for best results in application.

I used 2 coats of this one with one coat of top coat for all photos. Creamy smooth formula, no issues at all.

The Quick-Witted Comedian

This friend is always punny (see, I can do it too). She’s always the first to come up with a twisted response or to shed some laughter on the mundane. She could probably do stand up if she really wanted to but things in life just haven’t rolled that way for her. Her sunny disposition makes you wonder if maybe the clouds don’t have silver linings after all. Did I mention she’s as curious as a cat? Maybe her nine lives are the reason she’s so happy.

A light to medium teal green with loads of silver and green shimmer, purple/blue flake, and a slight touch of holographic pigment. 2-3 coats are recommended for an opaque look. This one is a bit sheer on first coat but builds nicely. Application is helped with a few minutes in between coats to allow for dry time.

I used 2 coats of this one and one coat of top coat for all photos. The shimmer in this one was SO blingy. I've been asked a lot already, before even posting, how close this one is to Krazzzie Fast-Fingered Gamer Girl so I'll have comps for you below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Krazzzzie Fast-Fingered Gamer Girl

This lady is the one you want on your team when you go raiding on WoW or any other role playing game on the net. She’s also a good one to have by your side during nail polish restocks, cuz that girl can snatch anything. She’s also just the sweetest thing on earth (with a bit of attitude on the side) and just a bit shy. Did I mention pretty nails? Gosh yes. Luckily she can deliver the nail polish she enabled you on because she’s krazzie fast.

A krazzie vivid turquoise that leans a bit green in the sun and more blue with indirect light. Add three types of purple shimmer and you’ve got a krazzie beautiful polish. 2-3 coats are recommended for an opaque look. Application is best when left to dry a bit between coats. This one has a tendency to separate (blue tinted base at the top) but that is easily fixed with a good shake. Application is not affected.

I used two coats of this one with one coat of top coat for all photos. No issues with formula or application. I had a hard time capturing the purple/blue shimmer in photos but it's not shy on the nail in real life.

And the quick comparison between The Quick-Witted Comedian and Krazzzzie Fast-Finger Gamer Girl...

So different!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Fashion Artist

Let me tell you, this lady is an artist. And she uses her body as her canvas. From her hair, her nails, down to the clothes she wears. She’s one of those people that stalk all the Black Milk Clothing releases? Yeah, leggings are PANTS! And her hair? She does these crazy melts that look totally awesome and I wish I could rock. Besides that, she does mini Picasso’s on her nails. It’s insane the talent and creativity this lady has.

A medium blurple with a good dose of aqua shimmer that shifts to pink at times. 2 coats are opaque for most. Application is best when left to dry a bit between coats.

I used 2 coats of this one with one coat of top coat for all photos. No issues to report at all. This one read more cornflower/periwinkle blue on me because of my pale skin.

Great Lakes Lacquer will also be doing a Polish of the Month. I have a few of those to show you as well. They will be available for the entire month and then gone forever.

For now, these I've shown you today are part of the permanent collection and will be restocked regularly.

So why do you think? Favorites? Mine are Fashion Artist and The Triathlon Trainer, which is odd because blues and teals aren't usually my first choice! But these are complex and interesting and seem to go with my skin tone well!

You can purchase these at her shop and be sure to follow on social media to stay up-to-date on swatches, collections, restocks and the like. Links below:
