Dior Vernis Cruise Collection 2013 - Pastèque, Mango & Lime

Good evening! I finally received my Dior Cruise Collection 2013 polishes, so I'll be showing you those tonight. I look forward to Dior's Cruise Collections every winter. Not because I take cruises or winter on the French Riviera, unfortunately, but just because they're usually so pretty. This one doesn't disappoint!

Dior Cruise Collection 2013

The polishes in this collection are Lime, Mango and Pastèque. They are all cremes (THANK YOU DIOR!) and the application and formula on all three is fantastic. I used two coats for full opacity for all 3 polishes and no top coat for the photos.

Pastèque #658 - this one was harder to photograph for color-accuracy but the first photo is color-accurate. It's not that neon hot pink I was expecting from the promo photos, but it's still pretty nonetheless.

And I've already been asked if there are any dupes of Lime and Mango. Not in my collection - for either polish. Here are the closest ones I have...

What do you think? Any must-haves? Are they what you expected?

This Dior collection will be available everywhere May 2013, but they are currently available in select locations and at dior.com. They retail for $23.00 per bottle.

Filthy Gorgeous London Blah - Swatches and Review

Happy Hump Day! Today I'll be showing you Filthy Gorgeous London's Blah. Yes, Blah. What a name! This one is anything but blah, though. And the reactions I got while wearing it were mostly "Wow!"

Blah is a bright in-your-face lime green creme. Application was good and I used two coats for full opacity. The key with this one is to make your first coat very thin and let the second coat do its magic. It isn't self-leveling like Judy Baby (perfect formula) that I showed you yesterday so don't over-manipulate it. Definitely worth the color payoff though. Shown here with no top coat.

I'm not sure if they're available anywhere in the US but I ordered online and received my polishes direct from the UK in a reasonable time frame and beautifully packaged. You can also follow them on Twitter for updates and promos as well as Facebook. Their polishes are 3-Free and Cruelty-Free.

butter LONDON Squatter and Shag - Swatches and Review

The last two of my newest butter LONDON polishes (at least for a few days) are Squatter and Shag. Squatter is one of the Macy's exclusives and Shag is part of butter LONDON's Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection available everywhere that sells butter LONDON.

Let's start with Shag, shall we? And I think we all know what shag means *grin*. This one actually does say AUTUMN to me. Shag is a gorgeous metallic, warm-toned burnt orange/bronze. Easy application and great formula. Two coats to opacity, dries with a great shine. Shown with two coats and no top coat. I loved this one!

And finally Squatter. *sigh* Those of you who read my blog regularly KNOW how much I love butter LONDON. And you also probably know how much I love green. I saved this one for last for a reason. I've been dreading it. But I must be honest or else my entire blog has no valid purpose.

Squatter is a lime green creme. The application was not up to butter LONDON's usual standards and I had some trouble. It's a bit too thick and gloopy. I think it could be opaque in one coat, but there's cuticle drag and it really does NOT like to be over-manipulated or fussed with. I first tried thin coats, which is difficult. Then I started over and tried a thicker coat. I just couldn't get it right. It's not self-leveling so you really only have one shot to get it right and I never managed to do it. You can see in the photos that I had difficulty and I can usually adapt my application methods and make a polish work.

So there it is. BUT, since I did have trouble, I looked around in my stash to see if I had something else that compares color/finish-wise and I do!

Here I have some "dupe" options for you if you love the color of Squatter but don't want to fight with the formula...

Index to pinky: Sinful Colors Innocent, BL Squatter, Pure Ice Wild Thing
and Filthy Gorgeous Blah

In real life, the closest one and one I'd actually call a true dupe is Sinful Colors Innocent.

So what do you think of these two? Of course, Shag was my favorite of the two.

butter LONDON polishes are available at butterlondon.com and selected retail stores like ULTA (and most recently, Dillard's Department Stores) and they retail for $14.00 for .4 ounces. To stay up-to-date on special deals and offers, you can "like" them on Facebook here. Shag and *Squatter are just two of the over 60 colors they offer, in addition to various indulgences for your hands and feet...and even your lips. The nail lacquers are 3-free and butter LONDON is a Cruelty-Free company. That's a major plus for me.

*Squatter is a Macy's Exclusive and can be ordered online at macys.com or picked up in store.

Alter Ego Limelite Lover - Swatches and Review

I don't know what took me so long but I finally ordered my first polishes from Cynthia at Alter Ego! I received my two polishes with a nice card, a makeup brush, a manicure brush and a little tube of nail glue. So nice!

Of course you KNOW I had to try the green one first! Limelite Lover is a glitter polish is described by the creator: A limelite lover is someone who is always "on"! Quick witted, glib & observant, happy to be part of any scene as long as they can find an audience! This enamel has 2 shades of lime glitter, 1 matte & 1 holographic.

Alter Ego Limelite Lover

It's a really gorgeous, almost neon, lime green and I've layered it over GOSH Early Green on my 4 fingers and alone on my thumb so you can see how it builds on its own. I had no issues with application. It was a tad on the thick side, but not enough to be a problem. I've used two coats over the base color and 3 coats on the thumb alone. It dries to a satin finish so I have a photo at the end with top coat so you can see it both ways. I rather like it without the top coat though!

This was my base: GOSH Early Green

And now for the payoff!

Ain't she PURTY?

What do you think? I'm a huge fan of the single-color-look glitters even though up close they have a ton of interest. I'm not really into the multi-colored glitters as much so this one was right up my alley. And it's GREEN!

Have you tried Alter Ego polishes yet?  Alter Ego polishes can be purchased through her website (storenvy) here and be sure and follow her on Facebook for updates, new collection information, re-stocks, etc.
