Glitter Gal Transfusion and Hot Chilli - Swatches, Review and Comparison

Personal Collection
*These products are Cruelty Free

As promised, my swatches and reviews of two of the newer, limited availability Glitter Gal polishes, Hot Chilli and Transfusion - and a comparison.

Glitter Gal Transfusion

Glitter Gal Hot Chilli

The formula and application were identical on these two. Smooth and easy, two coats for full opacity. No issues to report at all. NOTE: Hot Chilli's holographic properties were not diminished by top coat but top coat killed most of the holo in Transfusion.

Enchanted Polish Ola Rio - Swatches and Review

Today I have another one of Enchanted's Big City Lights Collection to show you - Ola Rio!

Ola Rio is a color-shifting glitter polish. Sort of. I say glitter because it's really packed with glitter but it's not a chunky glitter, like the others from this collection. The color shifts in this one are amazing and as usual I wasn't able to capture ALL of them, but I think the photos are a good representation. I applied 2 coats of this one over one coat of Zoya Myrta. Formula and application were great. No issues. I used one coat of Poshe which made it totally smooth to the touch.

What do you think of this one? I saw mainly burnt orange with brown, copper, gold and even a little fuchsia! This can also be layered over other colors for even more looks.

butter LONDON Squatter and Shag - Swatches and Review

The last two of my newest butter LONDON polishes (at least for a few days) are Squatter and Shag. Squatter is one of the Macy's exclusives and Shag is part of butter LONDON's Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection available everywhere that sells butter LONDON.

Let's start with Shag, shall we? And I think we all know what shag means *grin*. This one actually does say AUTUMN to me. Shag is a gorgeous metallic, warm-toned burnt orange/bronze. Easy application and great formula. Two coats to opacity, dries with a great shine. Shown with two coats and no top coat. I loved this one!

And finally Squatter. *sigh* Those of you who read my blog regularly KNOW how much I love butter LONDON. And you also probably know how much I love green. I saved this one for last for a reason. I've been dreading it. But I must be honest or else my entire blog has no valid purpose.

Squatter is a lime green creme. The application was not up to butter LONDON's usual standards and I had some trouble. It's a bit too thick and gloopy. I think it could be opaque in one coat, but there's cuticle drag and it really does NOT like to be over-manipulated or fussed with. I first tried thin coats, which is difficult. Then I started over and tried a thicker coat. I just couldn't get it right. It's not self-leveling so you really only have one shot to get it right and I never managed to do it. You can see in the photos that I had difficulty and I can usually adapt my application methods and make a polish work.

So there it is. BUT, since I did have trouble, I looked around in my stash to see if I had something else that compares color/finish-wise and I do!

Here I have some "dupe" options for you if you love the color of Squatter but don't want to fight with the formula...

and Filthy Gorgeous Blah

In real life, the closest one and one I'd actually call a true dupe is Sinful Colors Innocent.

So what do you think of these two? Of course, Shag was my favorite of the two.

butter LONDON polishes are available at butterlondon.com and selected retail stores like ULTA (and most recently, Dillard's Department Stores) and they retail for $14.00 for .4 ounces. To stay up-to-date on special deals and offers, you can "like" them on Facebook here. Shag and *Squatter are just two of the over 60 colors they offer, in addition to various indulgences for your hands and feet...and even your lips. The nail lacquers are 3-free and butter LONDON is a Cruelty-Free company. That's a major plus for me.

*Squatter is a Macy's Exclusive and can be ordered online at macys.com or picked up in store.

Paint Box Polish: Gryffindor and Slytherin - Swatches and Review

I'm pretty excited about the polishes I have to show you today! Paint Box Polish Gryffindor and Slytherin...

I'm a Harry Potter fan. Yes, I know. Dork. WHATEVER! The author wrote most of it in Scotland and in my mind, Hogwarts is IN Scotland, so laugh if you want to. I love it!  For those of you NOT familiar with Harry Potter (all two of you) Gryffindor and Slytherin are two of the "houses" in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

First up, Gryffindor. This is a fantastic burnt orange polish full of gold micro-glitter/flakes. Application was smooth and easy. Great formula. No issues with application at all. This is 2 coats and no top coat.

And Slytherin. This one is a forest green polish with silver micro-glitter. Again, no issues with formula or application. It went on just as smoothly as the first. Two coats and no top coat.

SoFlaJo Manhattan - Swatches and Review

I placed my first order from SoFlaJo Hand Poured Originals the other day and received it quickly and well packaged. Inside my order was a mini bottle of Manhattan (Thanks Jody!) and it was "SO ME" that I just had to try that one out first! The one I actually ordered is Call Forth Dragons, a shimmery topper, which I'll be showing you soon.

SoFlaJo Manhattan

SoFlaJo Manhattan is from the Happy Hour Collection and is a shimmery, glowy, deep, coppery burnt orange that applied easily and was completely opaque in two coats with no "underwear." This one appears to have glass flecks rather than just a shimmer or micro-glitter. The brushes are semi-flat and splayed well. No issues with streaking or cuticle drag. I was very happy with the formula. And as you can see by the photos, depending on the lighting it flashes maroon! Very cool.

Yes, I'm going to need a full sized bottle of this one.

SoFlaJo polishes are 4-Free (free of Toluene, Formaldehyde and Dibutyl Phthalate and Formaldehyde Resin) and CRUELTY-FREE, which as you know is a big one for me. This one, as well as linear holo toppers, glitter polishes and other opaque colors are available in Jody's Etsy shop and retail for $10.00 for the full-sized bottles. Also be sure and "like" her Facebook page for updates!

Do you have any SoFlaJo polishes yet? What's your favorite?
