Doggie Beach Day!

Hi guys! A different sort of post today - my DOGGIES! 

Murphy is a chill dude. He's not fussed by much - but Twinks is pretty high strung and she was DEPRESSED. At first I thought she was sick but she wasn't. It took me a while to figure it out because I never really considered S.A.D. affecting dogs before but she was truly and utterly depressed. 

It's been cold and nasty here lately and while the cold doesn't bother Murphy much, it does bother Twinks. But heaven forbid one be in or out without the other! I actually heard my mother coming out of my mouth repeatedly. "IN OR OUT!" 

They love it outside so much and being stuck in the house with me 24/7 was really getting her down. 

Today was gorgeous - sun was shining and it was about 68 degrees (F) with lower-than-normal humidity and very light winds. While I couldn't take them to the "pretty" beach - you know, the people beach - because they can't be off-leash there, I could take them to their favorite "on the water" spot. 

Off we went...

Already happier! Almost there...

Murphy was actually PRANCING!

That's Twinkie's "herd dog" stance - I told her it was time to go so she set off to herd Murphy back to the car.

Satisfaction!

They wore themselves out and are now sacked out in the sun in the back yard.

Bliss.

Weekend Bits & Bobs: July 20, 2014: Life on the Coast

There are so many bits and bobs over the last few weeks that I can't catch up. But yesterday evening I went out with friends...had a great dinner and a little "dolphin cruise" which was great for the kiddos.

There was the coolest decal on the wall at the restaurant - Avery's in Port Aransas.

I am SO gonna paint that!

The "cruise" wasn't anything I haven't done on my boat before but somehow with friends, it's just so much more fun.

I forgot the sunscreen. So should I get a new hat?

Nah.

Leaving the dock...

I forgot my camera so I had to use the cell. Dolphins are hard to capture with a cell phone. Yeah they're porpoises. But I gave up trying to change people.

But the beach is pretty...

And the sailboats...

There's even a pirate ship now!

When it fired its guns it startled me!

And the lighthouse was gorgeous...

Especially at sunset...

And they drag a little net and put what they find in a little "pool" so the kids can see and touch (when appropriate) the sea life. They LOVED IT!

There were tiny squid and seahorses and fish and and and...the kids went nuts.

I wore Marc Jacobs Bark as my mani and I didn't get ONE photo of it! And I'm not even sorry! I chopped my nails to nubs when I got back from Vegas - I broke some while luggage-wrangling so it was time.

But it was easy to pick out my "favorite manis of the week" since it was Digital Dozen week!

Beach Time!

Hi errbody!  It's Twinkie again.  I'm a happy dawg! Mommy took us to the beach today and we had a really good time!

We smelled all sorts of new smells and some were really awesome! I could tell Mommy thought so too because she made weird faces when it was really good. I did a good job and I know 'cause Mommy told me so a bunch of times. I was in charge of Murphy. I love Murphy but he's not very smart.  I'm really smart so I hafta make sure he does what Mommy says. She tells him but he doesn't listen.  She's trying something new called a clicker, but I don't think he understands her. So I show him where to go. That's my job 'cause I'm a herder and I'm really good at it!

Mommy took pictures and I'm gonna show you what we did (but I'm not showing you the ones of her thumb 'cause she'd be mad.)

This is Murphy on the way to our adventure.  He looks happy but I think it's 'cause he farted.

The first thing we did was run and jump in the water!  It was so much fun! I swam all over, but Murphy only stood up to his belly. But that's okay. I'll teach him to swim next time.

And then it was time to go home. Herding Murphy wasn't too hard because I'm such a gooddog. He was going the wrong way, but Mommy told me to go get him, so I did and then I raced him back. I'm a lot faster than he is.  I'm faster than anything! See how big we're smiling???

Mommy said we made a big mess in the car and she wishes she hadn't sold the Navigator, but I don't think she minded too bad. And we smell so GOOD now! But I bet she gives us a bath and takes all the good smells away. I think Mommy's smeller is broken.

I love Spring!
