KBShimmer: The Birthstone Collection - Swatches and Review

Press Sample
*These products are Cruelty Free

Hi everyone! I'm back with a 12 polish collection to show you from KBShimmer called the Birthstone Collection. 12 shades in the colors of your favorite gemstones. I'll tell you in advance that I might have cussed these out a few times while swatching. Or maybe it was the overcast sky I was cussing? I wanted to show you how sparkly and shimmery and blingy these were and without the sun it's harder for me. But here we are anyway.

KBShimmer
The Birthstone Collection

Since these all had the same formula and application and only the color varies, we'll address that first.  These are all jelly-based foil finishes with lots of metallic flake and holo shimmer. Because of the density of the flakes, most of these are opaque in two easy coats. The formula was smooth and easy and the flakes are nicely suspended in the jelly base. No issues at all with application. I used one coat of KBShimmer Clearly on Top for all swatches. I will tell you the number of coats with each set of polish photos.

*Because these are so sparkly, so will your fingers be, up to your first knuckle, when you remove them if you don't go ahead and use a few more cotton rounds (or whatever you use) - just to keep from smearing the sparkle. The removal was fine though - removal is a bit harder than a regular creme or shimmer but not as bad as a glitter. No foil or soaking or jackhammers required.

Just remember to up the sparkle-factor from what you see here. I kept holding out for sun but I got ONE 2-minute window in all the time I've had these. For that, I took advantage and did the best I could with a quick and dirty skittles swatch of 4 of them, ran out into the front yard like weirdo and got these 2 photos for you.

Okay so let's get started. We will go by month...

Garnet - January - Deepened burgundy. Two coats.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amethyst - February - Rich red-toned purple. Two coats.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aquamarine - March - Pale aquamarine blue. Two coats.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Diamond - April - Pale silver. Three light coats.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Emerald - May - Rich emerald green. Two coats.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Black Pearl - June - Muted black. Two coats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruby - July (that's ME!) - This is a bit less straightforward that "ruby red" because reds are hard. This one is a true blue-toned red jelly base, but with the added flakes, the jelly base covers them in varying degrees as they settle into it, giving it a pinkish "glow" about it. The first photo shows strong light where you can see what I mean and the 2nd photo is what it looks like on me most of the time. And the more coats, the deeper it will be. Two coats for these photos.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Peridot - August - Golden celery green. Three light coats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Sapphire - September - Deep slightly navy-leaning sapphire blue. Two coats.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pink Tourmaline - October - Vibrant deep pink. Three light coats.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Citrine - November - Golden yellow. Three light coats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blue Topaz - December - Ice blue. Two coats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
