KBShimmer "Party" - Swatches and Review

Today I'm showing you another indie polish - KBShimmer's Party.

KBShimmer Party

Here's how Christy with KBShimmer describes Party:

So many fond childhood memories surround birthday parties. This polish takes me back to those days where balloons and confetti came in second only to the cake and presents.

For this polish, we started by creating a semi-sheer white base. We then added red and black square glitter, a medium sized royal blue hex, holographic gold hex, and silver holographic diamond glitter. To finish our party, we added fuchsia, navy, and green fine glitters. We find that due to the size of glitters and micas, polish feels and looks best with a coat or two of quality top coat. Polish can feel rough if left without.

I'd say that's a pretty spot-on description! I didn't have any application problems with this polish. The glitter pieces stayed suspended well and applied onto the nails just as you see in the photos. I did no rearranging or placement.

I did find that a coat of Gelous helps tremendously before you layer on the final topcoats. I used 2 coats of polish, one coat of Gelous and 2 coats of Poshe for the final manicure. I've included photos with and without top coat. The square glitter pieces do seem to be a bit thicker than the other glitters but after the Gelous and Poshe layers, they smooth down nicely. It does make this one "top coat hungry" though. HOWEVER, Christy has NEW squares that are thinner so this won't be an issue for future orders and it won't need as much top coat. I only used the Gelous because of the squares. But it didn't really bother me.

  2. I love it! but I doubt I'll actually get it becasue it will be too hard for me to get Gellous and I fear it will not look as nice and smooth without it...

  3. I love the Indie polishes! I bought some Gellous on line and tried it out. It is super thin and did not seem to do anything to my glitter manicure. I wonder if I got the wrong stuff.

    1. You must have! It's Gelous in the GREEN cap. Also, Christy has let me know that she's now using thinner squares so it should not need Gelous really for the new orders. Yay!
