Layla Hologram Effect Flash Black - Swatches and Review

Nah, I have plenty of linear holographic polishes. I don't need THESE.

Nah, I have a Spectraflair top coat - I can make anything a linear holo. I don't need these.

Bwahahahaaaaa!!!  Must have been the polish fumes because I totally needed these. I picked up 3 online and then succumbed to two more at Ulta the other day.

Resistance is futile. Why can't I just accept that?

Well these Layla Hologram Effect polishes are absolutely the strongest, most vibrant linear holo polishes I have by far.

At the plate this evening, Layla Hologram Effect 08 Flash Black. I almost always layer my holos over a base color to save on polish, well to save on the holo polish that is. I layered this one over a plain creme black and WOW does it ever POP!

The application was consistent with most very linear holos. It had the consistency of curdled milk, which isn't a problem if you understand it's fairly normal. If any of you are familiar with Nfu-Oh holos, especially #61 silver, this Layla falls somewhere between the old smooth formula and the new gloopier one. I used two thin coats over one coat of black underwear. Helpful Hints: This polish doesn't like to be messed with or over-manipulated. It looks splotchy going on but dries to a smooth finish - like magic. Using a top coat (I used Poshe) didn't affect the linear properties at all. No special "aqua" base is necessary.

What do you think? Is there room in your stash for more holo-tastic goodness?

These are available in the US at several online e-tailers and in store at Ulta for $15.50.

  12. I succumbed as well and got one today. The formula for me was runny as I had major pooling at my cuticles. Glad I got one but I can honestly say I won't be getting any others.
