SueSa S15 / Mei's Signatures - Swatches and Review

Today I have a great new polish to show you! It's so sparkly!

SueSa S15 is a MeiMei's Signatures house brand and is labeled Mei's Signatures #15. And it's 3-Free! In most lighting it reads as a gorgeous silvery taupe color but other lighting, especially natural indirect sunlight, you can see that it has a plum/pinkish look to it. It really is stunning in person but the camera (at least with ME behind the lens) couldn't capture the sparkle-factor. And I really just can't figure out the apparent color-shifts because it's definitely not a duochrome. The finish is almost like a foil, but it appears to be full of microgiltter and doesn't remove like a foil finish would. This one is a real puzzler AND a real stunner. It has a normal nail polish smell and not the strong smell I expected so I was pleasantly surprised by that, too.

I guess to sum it up, I have no idea what color it is or what finish it is, but it surely is pretty!

Some photos are with top coat and some are without. The top coat really brings out the sparkle as it dries to a satin finish. It does have a very VERY slight glitter feel that is completely smooth with one coat of Poshe. (Please excuse the red streaks on my ring and pinky finger - from the topcoat I used too soon after the last red polish I applied. Oy.) The last photos show the difference in the color from artificial lighting (not flash) to natural indirect lighting. SEE what I mean? And the photos actually ARE color-accurate.

What do you think of this one? How would YOU describe it? Quite the tricky polish, no?

Chanel Canicule, the Heat and an Unwelcome "Guest"

Well today was definitely MONDAY. I started out not quite "up to snuff" and everything went downhill from there! Ah, really it wasn't a bad day but I did have my "moments." Today would have been my 19th wedding anniversary. (Next month will mark 7 years since his passing.) And I could almost hear him laughing at me today. He, of course, was the designated "killer of all things creepy-crawly." Yeah, he would have really laughed at me because at one point I ran from the room screaming like a lil girl. Yes, yes I did. Why?

Because THIS was on my kitchen floor when I got back from running errands in 106 degree heat.

Unwelcome Scorpion

He was smaller than the others I've found in my house before, but he was an aggressive lil bugger. He  curled up his tail and came at me! So after my freak out, I grabbed the can of insecticide and pretty much drowned him. #winning!

ANYWAY, in honor of the HEAT (and because Bill liked red,) I pulled out an OLD Chanel.

Chanel Canicule. I'm not sure how old this one is but it's gorgeous. It's a candy apple red with red shimmer and silver micro glitter and when I googled "canicule" I knew it must be my mani for today. Canicule means heatwave or scorcher in French. AppropriĆ©, n'est-ce pas?

What do you think? Red is supposed to be empowering! Guess that was what gave me the courage to kill the scorpion myself. LOL!

Illamasqua Phallic - Swatches and Review

Yes, you read that correctly, it's called Phallic. Maybe I'm extremely naive, but a blue phallic symbol? Not sure I get it. Now I could understand the blue part a little better if it were something ELSE, maybe. LOL!

Regardless, Illamasqua Phallic is a gorgeous deep navy blue with lots of royal blue micro-glitter, giving it that "lit from within" look we all seem to love so much. It applied smoothly and evenly and was opaque in 2 coats. Dries to a very shiny finish.

My only issue with this one, which will be a plus to a lot of  you, is how dark it looks against my washed-out skin. But if you have any color in your skin at all, you'll love it. Shown below with 2 coats of color and no top coat.

If you are a fan of blues, this one is probably a must-have. I have nothing else like it in my stash.

Illamasqua polishes are available at Sephora stores in the US and sephora.com or you can buy straight from Illamasqua.com in the UK. Polishes retail for $14.00.

What do you think? Do you have it yet?
