Comparison Request - a-England Dorian Gray vs. King Arthur

Quick comparison between a-England Dorian Gray and a-England King Arthur

One coat of Dorian Gray on pinky and middle fingers and 2 coats of King Arthur on ring and index fingers.

They are totally different and both have a place in my collection. I do love the formula on Dorian Gray and can see myself wearing that one a bit more often.

a-England Dorian Gray - Swatches and Review

a-England has recently released five new polishes called the Gothic Beauties Collection. a-England is one of my all-time favorite brands so I knew I had to have them even if swatches were indicating that they would all read black on me. So I pre-ordered them directly from Adina as soon as I could. The formula is absolutely amazing, as always - on all five of them. The Gothic Beauties Collection was inspired by and named for characters in well-known gothic literature. Literature, especially of this genre, is a passion of mine, so I was thrilled to see them!

Today I have Dorian Gray to show you. I'd thought about a polish named Dorian Gray for a long time and always pictured it as a duochrome - you know because of the two distinct "Dorian Grays?" For those of you who don't remember the story, there was a painting in the attic that aged and showed all the evil that was Dorian's character in IT rather than in Dorian, who never seemed to age or have any consequences for his actions. This one is my favorite of this collection, though, so I think Adina did a great job. Dorian Gray is a gunmetal grey and is so highly pigmented and has such a perfect formula that I only used ONE COAT for the photos. No top coat. I usually add that later because I like to show you the actual finish.

And as I am doing with the whole collection, the last photo(s) will show what it looks like 99% of the time. As you can see, Dorian Gray doesn't loose much - it's still gorgeous and not reading black on me at all.

What do you think? This one and Tess d'Urbervilles are my favorites of the collection. To see my Tess d'Urbervilles swatch, click here.
