Scofflaw Nail Varnish Winter 2014 Collection - Drop Dead Fred

*This product is Cruelty Free

Today continues swatches of the new Scofflaw Winter 2014 Collection set to launch January 5th, 2013. Right now I have Drop Dead Fred to show you.

Here's what the creator had to say about this collection and her inspiration: Now, you may have noticed I don't really do 'collections', per se. Only in the most vague way. If the winter collection had a theme, it would be the idea of 'comfort'. My go-to colors. Colors that make me feel cozy. Polish names that give me a warm fuzzy - you get the idea!

WINTER 2013 COLLECTION

I've decided to give each one of these beauties its own post so I could show you both in artificial lighting and indirect natural lighting without trying to keep it short. Then I will do a round-up post so they'll all be in one place for future reference.

Serum No. 5 - Call It A 'Treuse

Good morning! Today I have another Serum No. 5 polish to show you: Call It a 'Treuse. I just love the name.

Call It A 'Treuse is a chartreuse green with green micro-glitter (and maybe some holo micro-glitter?) and magenta small and medium hex glitters.  This one can probably be worn alone but I've layered it over a matching green (NYX Pastel Pistachio) just because I almost always layer to achieve opacity to cover my stained nails and I really don't like any VNL (visible nail line.) Application and formula were good and I had no issues. Two coats over the base with one generous coat of Poshe top coat for the photos. All the glitters spread nicely and laid flat on the nail.

*Every month, a charitable donation will be made in an amount equal to 20% of the profits of all lacquers sold, per the maker.

What do you think of this one? This color combination has always been one of my favorites, which puts this one up there in the top 2 favorites of this collection I've tried so far.

Don't forget, I still have a lot more from Serum No. 5 to show you, so stay tuned!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Abi and Santa Fe - Swatches and Review

I honestly thought I had blogged about these already so I apologize for the lateness.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Abi and Santa Fe

The reason I thought I'd blogged about them is because I'd done swatches. So now, I'm going to show you both RBL Santa Fe and RBL Abi on long nails AND short nails. Hey if I had to do it twice, you have to look at them twice! These are both from the GOMM Collection (formerly Georgia On My Mind.) The names have been changed from the original collection because of a problem with using the name Georgia O'Keefe, from what I understand. So Ji, owner of RBL, marked through part of the original names on the boxes and signed each box. There are 7 polishes in this collection and they are supposed to be Limited Edition.

First up, Abi (formerly known as Abiquiu) - it's a chartreuse with a chartreuse/silver shimmer. Application was fair. It's a tad on the thick side, which normally isn't a problem for me, but it's not self-leveling at all, as you will be able to tell in the photos. I didn't get good wear at all, but everyone's body chemistry is different. The good thing is that the shimmer is apparent on the nail, unlike some "subtle" shimmers.

Santa Fe (formerly Santa Fe Road) is a warm, almost pumpkin or adobe orange with golden yellow and possibly chartreuse shimmer - maybe a duochrome shimmer? This one has much the same formula as Abi - a tad on the thick side and not self-leveling. The color is gorgeous so if being super careful with application is the price, I'll probably be willing to pay it now and then. But I didn't really get good wear out of this one either. Again, the shimmer is apparent on the nail and not just in the bottle, which is a plus.

While I really did like the color and finish of Santa Fe, I'm not sure I'd pay the $20 price tag again for them. For $20 per bottle I pretty much expect the formula to be perfect. What do you think?

These two, and the other 5 in the GOMM collection, can be purchased on Rescue Beauty Lounge's site here for $20 per bottle.
