The Digit-al Dozen Traditions: Doctor Who Christmas Special

***

The tradition to out-tradition ALL traditions for me is the Doctor Who Christmas Special. This year I'm particularly excited because RIVER SONG with Peter Capaldi!

This is quite possibly the worst TARDIS I've done so far, but hey, you can tell what it is so there ya go!

For this mani I used the new Crowstoes for the January A Box Indied (not available until January - sent for review) called Revise Your Demise as my base - the rest is acrylic paints.

Get it? wHO wHO wHO? hehe

Are you a Whovian? Excited to see Alex Kingston and Peter Capaldi together? I'm practically doing a drunk monkey dance over here.

If I could've drawn his eyebrows or her hair, I totally would have.

Be sure to check out all the other great Traditions manis in the links below!

LynBDesigns - Time And Relative Dimension In Space (TARDIS) with Essie Starry Starry Night Comparison

Wake up Whovians and Lacquerheads and check this one out!

This morning I have Time And Relative Dimension In Space (TARDIS) to show you. Stay tuned to the end for a comparison.

TARDIS is a blue jelly base with small blue and silver glitter pieces. At arm's length it is opaque in 2 coats, but after seeing these close-up photos, I would probably use 3 light coats in the future. It's definitely a squishy jelly and when you put on that first coat, you're just SURE it's going to take 4 or 5 coats, but it's deceiving - that second coat is magic. No issues at all with formula or application. But just a helpful hint, you will want to wear a base coat because it does have some minor staining if you don't. It dries to a semi-gloss, so you will want to use a top coat. I've used one coat of Poshe for the photos. (In the comparison photos at the end, you can see the finish without top coat.)

And before you even ask, I wondered myself, so I've done a comparison between TARDIS and Essie Starry Starry Night, which is VHTF and very spendy if you do find it.

As you can see, they're definitely not dupes. HOWEVER, at arm's length you'd be hard pressed to tell they're two different polishes. The blue jelly base is also slightly different, which you can only really tell with the first coat. You can see that SSN is a deep blue blue while TARDIS is a slightly green blue. After the second coat, you can't tell. The glitters are larger by 2 or 3 times in TARDIS as compared to the tiny ones in SSN.

I asked 3 different people at the cafe this morning while I was having breakfast and they couldn't tell I was wearing two different polishes.

So what do you think? This is the first polish I've tried from LynBDesigns and I love it! She does use some existing polishes in some of her lacquer creations, so the "3-free and cruelty-free" has an asterisk. She does try to use 3-free polishes when she uses already existing polishes and I don't know if this one has any in it.

You can purchases her polishes on the LynBDesigns Etsy Page and be sure and follow/like LynBDesigns on Facebook to stay up-to-date with new collections, swatches and other information. This polish was $8 for a full-sized bottle.

NerdLacquer All of Time and Space and an Early Birthday Surprise!

I'm cheating tonight and showing you what I did to extend my mani the other day when I wore Illamasqua Raindrops over Zoya Dove.

I added one more layer - NerdLacquer All of Time and Space!

All of Time and Space is a Dr. Who reference, of course. So I had to have it back when Amanda introduced it. (I really miss Amanda and wish the best for her wherever she is!)  "MY" Doctor is the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and always will be but I love them all. This is from a quote by the eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith:

All of time and space, everything that ever happened or that ever will ,where do you wanna start?

Well let's start right here... with the TARDIS! (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) An early birthday present from my friend Ashley at Ashley is Polish Addicted!

A TARDIS Teapot!!!

And now for the swatches...NerdLacquer applied perfectly in one coat over my existing mani and I used one coat of Poshe to finish it up.

Saturday Night Saltire!

While wearing my new Dior Electric Blue today, I noticed that it would be perfect for a Saltire. In fact, it practically SCREAMED for it!

So...limited as my "nail art skills" are, I figured even I couldn't mess up an X, right?  Well honestly, it's not perfect, but it gets the point across.

And I also got my TARDIS iPhone case today (yes, I ADORE Dr. Who) so, here they both are...

HAPPY SATURDAY everyone!
