Green Comparisons and "Dupe" Search with RBL, Chanel, Illamasqua, etc.

Since I did the Blue Comparison post the other day and the Baby-Poop-a-Palooza yesterday, I decided I'd go ahead and do a real Green Comparison post.

Today I'll be doing 4 comparisons based on some of the greens I showed you yesterday.

First up, OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window and Zoya Dree

As you can see, these are VERY close. The formula is great on both. Zoya Dree is a bit more pigmented and could be a one-coater if you're careful while OPI can't. The brush on Zoya is round and cut well. The brush on OPI is wider and flat but this one was a little "hinkey" which to be fair is unusual. OPI, however, has a parent company that is not cruelty-free while Zoya IS cruelty-free.  They are both in the same price range. Zoya wins this for me.

Next, Rescue Beauty Lounge No More War and Kleancolor Fashionista.

These are not exact dupes, as you can see. The RBL has a tad more brown in it. Neither polish had what I would call a good formula. RBL was streaky and splotchy and would take three coats. The brush was good. RBL is cruelty-free. Kleancolor also has a decent brush. The formula was slightly better with complete opacity in 2 coats. No streaking issues. It is also cruelty-free. But Kleancolor has a strong chemical smell reminiscent of the pre-3-free days, if not worse. Oddly, even with my sensitivity to some smells, this doesn't bother me.  Kleancolor can be obtained for between $1.75 and $5 online while RBL retailed for $18 and is no longer available from RBL. Kleancolor wins this one for me.

Next is W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg and Illamasqua Hectic

Again, not a dupe, but they're similar. Illamasqua has a bit more yellow and is brighter. The formula on both of these was outstanding. Very easy to apply, creamy, opaque and smooth. I like both brushes and had zero issues with either of them. Two coats to perfection. The first coat of Illamasqua will scare you though, but the 2nd coats fixes everything. Both are cruelty-free. The Illamasqua brand (though not this specific color) is easier to obtain in the US and is a bit cheaper AND has more polish per bottle. However Hectic has been sold out for a while and is discontinued and VERY hard to find. This one is a draw. I love them both.

And finally...we have W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg (again) and Chanel Khaki Vert

W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg vs. Chanel Khaki Vert

W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg vs. Chanel Khaki Vert

W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg vs. Chanel Khaki Vert

These two are clearly NOT dupes, but Aalborg is the closest polish I had to Chanel Khaki Vert, so there you go. Chanel has more blue while Aalborg has more yellow. The formula on both is fantastic but the WIC is a bit creamier and smooth in application. They're both cruelty-free and both have a good brush.  The WIC has less polish per bottle, but since the Chanel is discontinued and very expensive if you find it on eBay, the WIC is infinitely cheaper. Even if both were readily available and the same price, I'd pick the WIC over the Chanel this time. I prefer the color and formula of the WIC in this case. (With that said, NO, I'm not getting rid of the Chanel in this lifetime. Hahaha!)

And now for a few bonus shots. I've layered Dandy Nails Like Disco Lemonade on the tips of the last comparison mani just for fun. I'll be swatching and reviewing Like Disco Lemonade soon so stay tuned.

  1. I love these green shades! I have several myself, though I tend to gravitate towards the ones with some sparkle or shimmer in them instead of the straight cremes, but that goes for most of my polish not just the greens.
