Nail of the Day: Reciprocal Gradient

Nothing to Disclose
*These products may NOT be Cruelty Free

Just a quick NOTD post - I'm working on swatches of some FAB polishes to show you, but in the mean time, another reciprocal gradient. I loved it so much and got so many compliments on the last one I did, I thought I'd do another.

I couldn't decide which "direction" would look better so I did it opposite on alternating nails - light at the tips on the base gradient on one and dark at the tips on the next. Then I used striping tape and reversed the gradient direction on each nail. Because of how the colors blended, I preferred to end it with the light on the tips, so next time I'll do them all the same with dark tips on the base gradient and light tips on the final gradient.

What do you think? I think it's just one of my favorite looks for "nail art." And as always I love nail art that looks harder than it is.

Copy-Caturday! With Globe and Nail's Reciprocal Gradient

Happy Saturday! Time for Copy-Caturday again - my attempt at copying some great nail art I've seen that inspired me to keep trying.

Today I'm copying a great gradient I saw over at Globe and Nail. She calls it a reciprocal gradient and went into a "math" explanation about why, which made my brain shut down immediately. But I know I was enthralled with the look of it.

I did something similar the other day - a sideways reciprocal gradient using browns and when I found out what to call it is when I found Globe and Nail's awesome mani. Go check it out!

Not the best, but I'm pretty happy with it for now. I will be practicing more though because I think this is just such a cool look! What do you think? Will you be trying it?

Click here for Globe and Nail's tutorial. I hadn't seen the tutorial until after I did this one so next time I will use more than three per nail and I'll get them straighter.

Happy Weekend!

Nail Art Night - Sideways "Reciprocal" Gradient

Happy Tuesday! I'm working on a post for tonight starring a new-to-me indie brand that's just lovely. In the mean time, have a look at my nail art attempt for the day!

Sideways Reciprocal Gradient Nail Art

It's a Sideways Reciprocal Gradient. Now I didn't come up with the term "reciprocal" although it IS genius! I *think* maybe Globe and Nail coined that term - please let me know if anyone knows for sure. Even if she didn't you should check her out - she's AMAZING. I just scrolled through some of her stuff to see if I could find this reciprocal thing and I was in awe of her skills. I thought I'd come up with something "new" finally but alas...Hahaha! Story of my life. I don't know that anyone has done a sideways one yet though. Or there could be a kajillion out there.

UPDATE: It was Globe and Nail and you can check out her post here!

I was wearing butter LONDON Tea and Toast and decided to extend the mani by doing a gradient with Chanel Eastern Light and Revlon French Roast.

What do you think? When my nails are short I like to do it length-ways instead of across to give them the appearance of more length.
