Zoya Naturel Deux (2) Collection - Swatches, Review and Some Nail Art

*These products are Cruelty Free

Remember when I said the Zoya Naturel Collection was one of my favorites Zoya ever did just because they're awesome neutral-ish cremes? Well they've taken it a step further with the release of the Zoya Naturel Deux (2) Collection!

Zoya Naturel 2 Collection

These are a bit darker than the first Naturel Collection and just perfect for my skin tone even though a couple of them are warm shades. These are meant to transition from late summer to early fall.

Before I swatched them though I had to play around with them a bit! So I did a toothpick marble. Naturally.

I used Emilia, Spencer and Aubrey with a coat of top coat.

Oopsie Daisies Dionysus: Swatches and Wear Test

*This product is Cruelty Free

So...remember a while back when I showed you the SUPER GORGEOUS Oopsie Daisies Secret Admirer?

Well, today I have another Oopsie Daisies polish to show you...with a wear test.

Okay fine, I didn't get photos when I first put it on. So you get a wear test by default. But I'm really glad it happened this way now. *grin*

Nail of the Day: Nails Inc. Westbourne Terrace

Nothing to Disclose
*This product is Cruelty Free

Happy Labor Day! Hopefully you're one of the lucky ones who has the day off! I'm swatching some gorgeous new polishes that are set to debut later this week (so check back in this evening!) but I'll leave you with my nail of the day in the meantime...Nails Inc. Westbourne Terrace.

Westbourne Terrace is a medium mauve creme. The formula and application are great on this one, typical Nails Inc. - smooth and creamy. No issues at all.

While Nails Inc. is one of my favorite mainstream brands ever, this color wasn't my favorite. It's a great, well-pigmented color, I think it just reminds me of the 70s/80s a bit too much. But that's totally personal preference.

What do you think of this one? Is it something you would wear or do you prefer an "edgier" color?

Nails Inc. polishes are available directly from Nails Inc. (if you're in the UK) and at Sephora in the US. US retail prices are around $9.50, but you can often find them on sale for as little as $5 and the "specialty" polishes can go up to $11.50.

Sinful Colors Haute Rebel Collection and Kiss and Tell Collection

I just have a really QUICK post for you tonight. I hadn't realized that I didn't show you the 4 new Sinful Colors polishes (out of the EIGHT in the Haute Rebel Collection) until I started to show you the two new ones in the newest Sinful Colors Collection, Kiss and Tell.

First, the 4 new polishes from the Haute Rebel Collection are Beau Khaki, Mauve, Ardoise and Cool Grey. Two coats, one coat of Poshe. Mauve is a pale lilac, Ardoise is a dark grey.

And the two new ones from the Kiss and Tell Collection are Truth or Dare and Tantalize. ONE coat of Truth or Dare and two coats of Tantalize. One coat of Poshe. Truth or Dare is a touch more purple/berry than this photo but I just couldn't capture it. I will though and I'll have a full post on Truth or Dare because it's AMAZING - and it's a one-coat creme. ♥

Sinful Colors Kiss and Tell

There were 8 colors in the Kiss and Tell Collection as well, but the other six were re-promotes.

What do you think? I think Truth or Dare is a must-have. Pretty sure Beau Khaki is as well. And for $1.99, you can't go wrong.

Layla Mirror Effect 06 Red Hot - Swatches and Review

Today I have one of the Layla Mirror Effect polishes to show you.

Layla Mirror Effect #06 Red Hot is a dark pink/mauve chrome polish. It comes with its own file to buff the ridges from your nails before application, but if you've been reading long, I HATE to file or buff my nails, so I didn't use it. I had no trouble at all with application - smooth and easy. I used only one coat and the photos below are with and without top coat, but when I went in to resize the photos, I'll be darned if I can tell which are with top coat and which are without top coat. This is actually a really pretty polish and I quite liked it, but I guess I keep expecting the "mirror" polishes to look like actual chrome or like the minx stuff that was so popular in the last year or two. It's just not. But for a one coat polish, it does sort of rock.

Chanel April Comparison / Dupe (vs Zoya Bianca)

When I first got Chanel April, I discovered that Pure Ice Rumors was very similar. I did a comparison here.

This evening I found another polish that is even closer! I'm not going to call it a "dupe" because this one came out BEFORE Chanel April. (As did Pure Ice Rumors, if I am not mistaken.) Plus I just dislike the word dupe.

Zoya Bianca.

I pulled out a few to compare...

As you can see, Bianca is closest.  Let's have a better look.

I am a HUGE fan of most Chanels. But with that said, given a choice between Zoya Bianca or Chanel April, I'd choose the Zoya.

1) Bianca was here first (LOL!)

2) Bianca costs $8 on zoya.com or at select Ulta stores while Chanel April costs $26 on chanel.com or your local Chanel counter.

3) The formula on Zoya Bianca is smoother and not quite as goopy. (I'm not saying April is goopy - it's not, just a little thicker than Bianca) The application was easier with Bianca. FOR ME.

4) Bianca is just the tiniest bit brighter than April. I prefer that - some may not.

They both take two coats for full opacity and both have a good bottle design and good brush. They're both 3-Free and Cruelty-Free.

So I'd say if you collect Chanel just to collect them, go for April. Otherwise, my vote goes to Zoya Bianca.

Chanel April vs Pure Ice Rumors

Ever since I got Chanel April there's been sort of a tickling at the back of my mind - like I have something sort of like it. I did a quick look of my stash and didn't see anything so I chalked it up to it just reminding me of one of those colors from the 70s and 80s - you know, every variation of red, mauve and pink imaginable because there weren't really any other "acceptable" colors?

Well this evening, while going through my polishes to see what I might put in a blog sale, I found it. Pure Ice Rumors - at the very back. I can see now why it reminded me of April.

Before you get all excited, NO, they aren't dupes. Pure Ice Rumors IS a dustier version of April though, IMO, while April is "clearer." If you like this particular color, they are different enough to warrant both. If you are like me and it's not your favorite, I think you pick whichever one you like best and call it a day.

Here are the comparison photos...two coats of color on both - no top coat.

Chanel polishes retail now for $26.00 in the US.
Pure Ice polishes are available at Walmart and retail for $1.97.

Is there a difference in formula or application? Well, to be honest, yes. Chanel's formula is the tiniest bit smoother. However, I find that Pure Ice actually wears better on me. That may not be your experience though. Is there $24.00 worth of difference? Not in my opinion. Unless you're a collector. Then all bets are off!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro - Steel Grey and Pink Zinfandel

So we're down to the last couple of Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro colors I have for review right now.  There are several other Rimmel variations, such as Rimmel 60 Seconds, coming up as well.  But for now, the last two in the Lasting Finish Pro line are my latest, Pink Zinfandel, and my favorite go-to polish, Steel Grey. No, you're not crazy, I've reviewed this one before, but it's my favorite, so I'm throwing it in there again.

Steel Grey is one of those mushroom-y, taupy colors I always fall for and because it's in this line, which happens to be one of my favorites, and is applied with one of the best application brushes out there, it qualifies as my "if you could only have ONE" polish.  It reads as a neutral, but has plenty of color saturation to contrast nicely with my pasty white skin.

Rimmel Steel Grey

Rimmel Steel Grey
Steel Grey is actually a fairly close Chanel Particuliere dupe, but, unlike Particuliere, Steel Grey has a slight hint of a purple undertone that makes me favor it slightly.  It wears like iron on my nails and is the polish I wear when traveling.  If I am going to be gone for more than a week, I'll take a clear-based glitter coat to wear over it the second week if/when it starts showing wear.

Lastly, we have Rimmel's Pink Zinfandel.  This is what I would call a "frost." (Remember the 80s?)  It's an easy-to-apply formula, but it does have the tell-tale brush strokes reminiscent of a frost.

Rimmel Pink Zinfandel

Rimmel Pink Zinfandel
It's a nice mauvy-pink frost.  I wasn't thrilled with the brush strokes and pastels aren't really my best colors, so I layered a coat of Wet n Wild Hannah Pinktana over it - a sheer, pink glitter/shimmer coat.  Hides the brush strokes fairly well and gives it a little more depth (and a little more contrast against my skin.)

This concluded the Rimmel reviews for a few days.  I think I kind of ODd on them for now!  Have a great day!
