Baby-Poop-a-Palooza! (aka Green Comparison)

Anyone who knows me at all knows that one of my favorite colors is green. Especially "ugly" murky, swampy (yes baby-poop) greens. Best. Greens. Ever.

So I just did a really fast nail wheel swatch comparison with some of the "lovely" greens I have. I don't normally do a lot of swatch wheel posts for the blog, but I'm just not ready to take off my Dandy Nails Caught in the Crowd mani. Not even for Illamasqua Hectic, which is what spurred this comparison in the first place. My biggest NP WISH was finally fulfilled today!

So...

1.  Joe Fresh Khaki
2.  Chanel Khaki Vert
3.  China Glaze Westside Warrior
4.  Miss Sporty #475
5.  Illamasqua Hectic
6.  W.I.C. by Herome Aalborg
7.  Zoya Dree
8.  OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window
9.  RBL No More War
10. KleanColor Fashionista
11. OCC Swamp Thing

I love them all, except maybe #1 and #11 but I have to admit, #5 (Illamasqua Hectic) is the most gorgeous of the bunch for me. Which makes me insanely happy.

What do you think of the "ugly greens?" Are they for you?

SpaRitual Optical Illusion - Swatches and Review

Yuck!!! My highest form of compliment...There's nothing I love better than a fabulously "yucky" green and SpaRitual's Optical Illusion fits the bill.

I generally prefer cremes and that's no different with the yucky greens, but this one just spoke to me when I saw swatches and I had to have it. It was a good decision even though it turned out to be a jelly, which isn't usually my favorite. Yes, I said jelly. It's a murky, swampy olive green with what appear to be green/gold & aqua duochrome glass flecks.

Just a warning, being a jelly it's naturally a buildable polish. The first coat would scare the crypt keeper! (I'll show you that photo at the end. *giggle*) I used three coats for these photos, but after looking at the cropped photos, I can tell I probably need to apply the 3rd coat thicker or add a 4th next time. No top coat in the photos. (As always, photos enlarge when clicked.)

And now the scary shot! LOL! This is one coat.

I'm all about EASY and jellies are never easy for me, but I like the color so well, I will wear this again for sure. As far as jellies go, it's one of the easier ones I've tried.

Visit SpaRitual's site to check out the myriad of colors and finishes they offer. They are available at several e-tailers and usually retail for around $10.00 or at your local spa. Their site has a "where to buy" locator for brick and mortar location availability.

Fatigued Friday - Green Swatches and Comparisons

Since "Yucky Greens" are my favorite polishes to wear, I decided to pull some of them out to do side-by-side comparisons.

First, I swatched most of them on one nail wheel just to see what colors were so similar they deserved a side-by-side.

Starting at my thumb (which is donned in RBL No More War) and going clockwise:

Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Bronze Ablaze
China Glaze Wagon Trail
Chanel Khaki Brun
China Glaze Westside Warrior
Zoya Dree
Chanel Khaki Vert
Cult Nails In A Trance
My own franken
OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window
Zoya Yara
Essie Sew Psyched
Finger Paints Military Green
Joe Fresh Moss
Klean Colors Fashionista
RBL No More War
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Swamp Thing
NARS Night Porter
MAC Fatigues

So I decided on the following comparisons...

Klean Colors Fashionista vs. RBL No More War vs. OCC Swamp Thing

Next up, Zoya Yara vs. Cult Nails In A Trance vs. my franken

Outside, direct sun
Zoya Dree vs. OPI Uh Oh Roll Down the Window vs. China Glaze Westside Warrior

and finally,  MAC Fatigues vs. Finger Paints Military Green vs. Essie Sew Psyched vs. Zoya Gemma

Outside, direct sun
As you can see, somehow I've managed NOT to have any straight-up dupes. YAY ME! But there are a few that are pretty close to each other.  I am one of those oddballs who appreciates even the subtlest of differences, though, so I'm glad I have all of them.

If I were to pick a couple I could do without just because those subtle differences make them not as wearable with my skin tone, I'd probably do away with Zoya Gemma, Essie Sew Psyched and Finger Paints Military Green because they have more grey and blue undertones than the really "yucky" ones that I love so much. Also I could have done without NARS Night Porter just because the finish falls flat (literally - you need a great top coat with this one) and it's more of a deep forest green, which isn't my favorite.

Here's a better shot of NARS Night Porter

See what I mean?

I know that there are a lot of people who don't love these yummy swampy (er, I mean yucky) greens as much as I do, but I know some of you out there do!

And if you haven't tried any yet, DO IT! You might be pleasantly surprised!

If there are any on the first nail wheel of which you'd like to see a comparison, let me know and I will do a green skittles manicure for you.
