Chick Nail Polish Gavie Green

Press Sample
*This product is Cruelty Free

Good morning! Today I have a polish to show you from Chick Nail Polish - Gavie Green.

Here's what the maker had to say about Gavie Green: "Gavie Green is one of our edgier colors.  It is a neon emerald that dries MATTE. Keep it that way for a stand out in the crowd look. Top it off with the wet look top coat to have a lustrous finish that will rival any emerald gem."

This is my first time trying this brand and I loved it. I love greens and the finish on it is great. I'm showing you without top coat and with top coat. It dries to a semi-matte finish and looks great, but a coat of top coat and the shimmer really pops. No issues at all with formula or application. Two coats for full opacity. Pantone would approve.

First up, no top coat...

What do you think? It's a great green and I loved the shimmer. I wore it without top coat on one hand and with top coat on the other and I still couldn't decide which way I liked it best.

Chick Nail Polish is available through Chick Nail Polish's site here and through Llarowe's site here and full-sized bottles retail for $8.00. They are 3-Free and vegan. You can also check out Llarowe on Facebook here and Chick Nail Polish on Facebook here for more information.

Illamasqua Vice - Swatches and Review

Good Monday Morning!

Today I have Illamasqua Vice to show you.

This is one of the original "rubber" formula collection. Vice is a gorgeous deep plum/berry creme that dries to a semi-matte or "rubber" finish. Application was easy and smooth but the finish, without top coat, shows ALL imperfections. It looked perfect until I took the photos and they are not forgiving when it comes to bubbles or bumps on the nail. I love the look of the rubber finish, but because I had little bumps, I used a top coat which virtually erased them. First two photos are 2 coats and no top coat and last two photos are 2 coats with one coat of Poshe top coat.

What do you think of this one? I love the rich berry color and I especially love this one because it was a sweet, totally unexpected surprise gift from a sweet friend. Thank you Ana!

Illamasqua polishes, including Vice, can be purchased at sephora.com here in the States or at illamasqua.com in the UK.

Barry M Denim - Swatches and Review

Another Sunday night - "from the vaults" post...Barry M Denim. This was last week - obviously before I chopped all my nails to nubs.

I had NO issues with this polish at all. Application was smooth and easy and I used two coats for full opacity. One would do, actually. It dries to a semi-matte finish, making it really look like denim! So I'm showing it with no top coat, for the original finish and then with one coat of Poshe so you could see it both ways.

What do you think of this one? Do you have it already?

Barry M polishes are widely available in the UK BUT they can be purchased here in the States at a few e-tailers, including Ninja Polish and they retail for around $6.50 to $7.50. And for you lucky Canadians, Harlow and Co. carries Barry M, too - and ships to the US! They retail for $7.00.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy - Swatches and Review

Put your sunglasses on for this one! This evening I'm showing you a NEON!

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy was part of China Glaze's Summer 2010 Poolside Collection. It's described as a coral pink neon creme, which is pretty spot-on but it definitely reads orange in low lighting.

Had a difficult time capturing it, but leaving "orange hands" in some photos allowed for the color-accuracy of the polish.

I used two coats with NO top coat.  It's a neon so it dries in a typical neon semi-matte. I loved it this way so I left it, but a shiny top coat can be added if you prefer. The application, however, wasn't typical neon. It applied VERY smoothly. No issues to report at all.

This next photo is the most color accurate as far as the polish description...

This polish is widely available on-line at various e-tailers and ranges from $2.99 to $5.00, generally.

What do you think? Do you love rocking neons for summer?

Orly Frolic Swatches and Review

This is the first time I'm wearing Orly Frolic and I have no idea why it sat in my untrieds for so long.

It's from their 2011 Happy Go Lucky Collection for back-to-school. For me, this is a really difficult color to describe. Its definitely NOT a neon, in spite of how bright it looks in the bottle. I'm calling it fuchsia purple. LOL! It reminds me of an orchid. It's a somewhat bright red-based lilac creme with a unique finish. Illamasqua has a finish similar to this and they call theirs a "rubber finish." It doesn't dry matte, but it's not high gloss either. I quite like it! I started to put a top coat on when I was finished, but I just couldn't bring myself to change it! And it's a one-coater! Even with one-coaters, I usually do two coats, but this one just looked so pretty, I stopped at one.

All photos are with a base coat and ONE coat of color. No top coat and no clean-up.

First the close up - I think it most accurately portrays both the color and the finish.

Had I tried this one out before I did my Top 11 of 2011 post, this might have made the list!

I really ♥ this one.
