Comparison Request: Peach - Illamasqua Purity vs Sinful Colors Skylark

Tonight I have a quick comparison for you of a couple of peach creme polishes: Illamasqua Purity and Sinful Colors Skylark.

Purity is a bit warmer and more orange than Skylark. As you can see, they're certainly not dupes. It's not the best color on me, so I really don't think I need both, but I get a bit less of a "zombie hands" look with Purity than with Skylark.

Illamasqua polishes retail for $17.00 in the States while Sinful Colors polishes retail for $1.99.

Both had the about the same formula. Not really a nickel's worth of difference between them in that area. As is the nature of pale cremes like this, they're a tad thicker than darker polishes in general. With that, you need to use very thin coats - two will do, but make them thin because they don't really self-level well at all.

Today was the first day of school here, as in many places. I thought I could almost hear the collective sighs of relief blending with the moans of anguish of parents and children respectively. Even I was ditching summer today for wishes of Autumn by wearing fall colors on my nails. So, I decided to show you one last glimpse of summer in all her glory with a coral.

Thrifty Thursday! Starring Hard Candy Piece of Papaya

I'm back with another thrifty polish for Thrifty Thursday! This one is Hard Candy Piece of Papaya and it just may be my favorite so far.

Hard Candy Piece of Papaya

Piece of Papaya is part of their Itzy Glitzy Collection and it's a warm-toned, coral-leaning peachy pink with tons of gold shimmer. I used two easy coats and no top coat for the photos. No issues to report at all.

The brush is medium wide and flat, making it apply perfectly. The bottle is taller and skinnier and I was afraid it 1) would be easy to tip over and 2) would have a wand that was so long it would have too much on it to "wipe off," but I had no issues with either one. The formula is great and I had zero issues. Two easy coats for full opacity and no top coat for the photos. It was perfectly smooth to the touch. Wear on it was good - I had minimal tip wear and no chips. (I didn't use a base coat or a top coat.)

Today I have another polish from Dandy Nails' newest release, Sticky Sweet. If you missed it, you can see the Betrayed Desires post here.

Sticky Sweet is an orange/creamsicle polish packed with multicolored glitters including orange, yellow, red and blue. And the peach shimmer! This was my "sleeper" polish of the collection - the one I really thought I would like least and once I had it on, I LOVED IT! The mix of colors in this one is genius. Formula and application were great and I used 2 coats and one coat of Poshe top coat for the photos.

Dior Spring Ball 343 and Dior Princess 553 - with Délice and Diablotine Comparisons

Today I have the other two polishes in the Dior Sparkling Shine Collection for Spring 2013: Spring Ball 343 and Princess 553.

These two have the same finish as the other two, Délice 433 and Diablotine 643 - a juicy, sparkly shimmer and have the same formula and application. Perfection. You can click the links above to see my swatches of the other two and a comparison of them here.

Dior Spring Ball is described as a "sparkling peachy pink."  It's a pretty shimmery, coral peach shimmer.  Spring Ball applied beautifully and I used 3 light coats for opacity. Short nails will get by with two coats. No top coat for the photos.

Dior Princess is described as a "sparkling carnation pink."  It's a very feminine and girly sparkly medium pink shimmer. I used 3 light coats and no top coat for the photos. Short nails will get by with 2 coats. No issues at all with formula or application.

And I thought I'd do a quick comparison here with Spring Ball, Délice and Diablotine since a few people have already asked. I haven't included Princess because it's obviously pink and very different.

What do you think of these? I wasn't convinced at first because I assumed they were sheer and my nails are too stained for sheer polish no matter how pretty. I was thrilled when I tried them and found the formula to be fantastic and a lot more opaque than I'd initially thought. I really like them all but of the four, I think I'd pick Diablotine as my favorite only because of the way it contrasts with my pale skin. Which is your favorite?

Dior Délice #433 - Swatches and Review

I have another Dior Sparkling Shine Collection polish to show you - Dior Délice 433! (To see Diablotine, click here. To see Délice vs Diablotine comparison, click here.)

Délice is slightly cool-toned coral shimmer polish with pink, peach and gold shimmer/glass fleck. Two coats for full opacity and absolutely no issues with formula or application. It's very smooth and creamy and not at all sheer like I was expecting, which is perfect for me since sheer and my stained nails don't play well together. Just stunning. No top coat for the photos. It dries to a semi-gloss shine, but a top coat really pushes it over the sparkly, shiny edge.

What do you think of this one? This one reads as a peachy-orange on me and I have VERY pale cool-toned skin. Love.

Maya Cosmetics Demure - Swatches and Review

Good evening! I have another Maya Cosmetics polish to show you this evening - Demure.

Demure is a perfect name - it's a lovely sheer, warm peach polish with a peachy-copper shimmer and it has a jelly or maybe more crelly (jelly/creme hybrid) finish. It was sheer so I've layered it over a similar opaque base color for the photos (Illamasqua Purity) although I do think it could be worn on its own in 3 to 4 coats. I had no issues with formula or application.

Dandy Nails - Started Out with a Kiss

Good morning! This morning I have another Dandy Nails polish to show you: Started Out with a Kiss.

Sandy at Dandy Nails describes Started Out with a Kiss as a "sheer peach jelly with a delicate shimmer. Accentuated with pastel blues and pinks." Great description. I wore this one alone and used 3 coats for opacity but if your nails are short, I suspect you can do well with 2 coats. One light coat of Poshe topped it off! No issues to report at all. In natural lighting, against my skin, it takes on a slight pink hue and in artificial light, it's more of a nude light peachy look.

Dior Bikini - Swatches, Review and Comparisons

This evening I'll be showing you Dior Bikini, part of Dior's Croisette Collection for Summer 2012. St. Tropez is the other part of the nail polish duo, but it's a re-release - previously created especially for the Dior Boutique opening in St. Tropez and was a Limited Edition. I'll be showing you St. Tropez, which is a light greenish blue creme, sometime soon.

Dior Bikini is a dusty spicy orange creme that applies smoothly and is opaque in two coats. No issues to report. Shown in various lighting with two coats and a top coat.

To see how they compared to some of my other orange-toned colors, I've swatched a few of them for you.

None are dupes as you can see. Chanel Orange Fizz is a bit closer to Dior Bikini than I'd expected. I have both now, but if I didn't, I'd probably only purchase Dior Bikini. It's a smidge darker and I prefer Dior's formula and brush to Chanel's.
